About me:
PROUD NAVY MOM
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Krista
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
The day she graduated from boot camp!!! All in white!! It was so moving and a day I'll never forget.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was concerned or afraid, Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
I learned that I was NOT in control of my child's future anymore!! I also learned that the navy can show her the way but it was up to her to stay the course. Krista not only did this but she now helps to navigate the ship she works on. BRAVO THAT!!
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Bonnie,
Thanks for the comment on my page. My daughter is only 17 and DEP, set to leave in September. That is wonderful that your daughter may want to be an officer. Obviously we are taking this one step at a time and she wants to get through BC and A school before making any further decisions.

Bonnie,
What a beautiful picture of you and your daughter. How is she doing? Where is she now? By the way, your daughter is absolutely beautiful.

Dear Bonnie,
Thank you for writing. This week I have been on such an emotional state. I know you are too. Between the anxiety, not knowing if they graduate on time, happiness that they do, and I'm sure my crazy hormones are playing a role too. I have been teary eyed several days now. Then reading letters from mothers about how great the graduation is, and my own antisipation of it. I am not even talking about my first air plane ride that I am scared to death off. UGH !!!!! Is it Friday YET ??? This is going to be a long week.
Kim did call for the first time today, my husband spoke to her. He couldn't get over how matured she sounded. I know from her letters, mature with confidence. She was a timid shy little girl the last time I saw her. Our baby girls grew up. I know Krista must write the same way now. Now the next phone call, do they graduate ???
You know what eats me up, last year I became deaf, now I can not hear my children talk on the phone. They know that. I can tell them I love them and miss them, but can't have a conversation with them.
Are you going to the parent's party on June 5, at the Ramanda Inn ? I'm going.
Oh Kim saaid the Division won the Captain's Cup, what ever that is. Ask Krista what the heck is that ? They won though...that's good news !!! HA HA !!!!
I'll let you get going. I hope to hear from you again.

Hi Bonnie. My son is also in Div. 208, Ship 11. I was so excited today - we got a phone call from him and talked for quite some time. He said they do Battlestations on Monday and it determines if they graduate or not. I asked him if he knew any of the females in his division (thinking of your daughter) and he said they really don't interact much with the females. He did say he couldn't wait to see us all then he said "6 more days' so I know they are all looking forward to it too. Did you get a phone call today? I hope so. I can tell you really miss your daughter and that you are really close so it would be really nice if you heard from her. How does she feel about staying in GL? Where is her boyfriend? I can honestly say the conversation we had with my son today put my mind so much more at ease. He sounded so good and he said they all have a positive attitude and know what they have to do from here on out before graduation. Let's keep them in our prayers for Monday. Where are you staying in Illinois? Keep in touch and I will talk to you soon.

Well, I would like to be able to go see her at least one time more if I could afford it. I found this link on another forum and posted it on PIR6/06 forum. Read it about "A school" this helps understand it a litle better.

Hey Bonnie! If you haven't already done so, read "The PIR experience" posted today by Maria Figueroa. She is at GL right now and I found that the information clarified what the day was going to be like for us.

Hi Bonnie. I was so glad to hear from you. When I was reading your posting about the birthday celebrations I couldn't help but think how wonderful it was going to be when you do see your daughter - you two can celebrate them together - just a little late! I do have to admit - you probably won't be the only one doing some tackling! I think I will be right there beside you tackling my son to the ground or if its not me it will be my husband, his girlfriend, or her daughter. My other son may even participate in that task too. Did you get a phone call from your daughter this week? A letter? We got a letter yesterday and my son said they were doing the Battlestation thing this past week on Thursday and the tear gas thing. I have worried ever since as to how they did. He said he missed phone call time because he was in his security clearance interview so we probably won't hear from him again until we get to Illinois. My son is going to Virginia to A school for something I think he called Information Systems Intelligence. Where is your daughter going? And for what? Is it near your home where you can visit? I think after boot camp things are much easier - more freedom where they can call home and keep in contact. I am so glad to hear you will be at the get together. I can't wait to meet you - and your daughter. She sounds very special. The countdown is on now - 4 days until we leave here. How about you? See you Thursday.
Denise
