Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away!

Profile Information

About me:
Hi I am Lynn maried for 37 years to my best friend and the proud mother of two wonderful children. Our daughter is 22 years old working as a pharmacy tech and living out on her own. Our son is Daniel almost 21 years old and in the Navy. My family is the best part of my life, they are my greatest achievement. I work part-time for a large store and also do the bookeeping for our business. In My spare time I love to cook, decorate my home, scrapebook and spend time with my family. I believe family is the backbone of this country and is the most important part of my life.
My husband and my children are the best part of who I am.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Daniel
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
I have always been proud of my son. He is a strong young man, with great integrity. He has such determination in all that he does. When he made the decision to Serve his country it was one of many of my proudest moments. He is an awesome young man.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was proud, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
The most important thing I have learned is to let go. To believe in my child and the life he has chosen. I learned that I raised a very strong young man. He has shown me that he is ready to take what life has to give him and that he is going to do it with everything he has. He is a very awesome young man.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my N4M friends. This is a time to look back on our year and remember all the blessings in our life. For so many of us this has been an eventful year with our children joining the Navy, bootcamp, A school and so much more. For us this Thanksgiving will be our first without the four of us together, we will have one empty seat but our hearts of full of pride and joy for all that our son as accomplished and how far he has come. We are so blessed to have such a great young… Continue

On Being A Mom

This went around several years ago. Written by Anna Quindlen. So here goes, it is a little long but says it all. All my babies are gone now. I say this not in sorrow but in disbelief. I take great satisfaaction in what I have today: three almost-adults, two taller than I am, one closing in fast. Three people who read the same books I do and have learned not to be afraid of disagreeing with me in their opinion of them, who sometimes tell vulgar jokes that make me laugh until I choke and cry, who… Continue

An Awesome Ride

It has been two months since Dan graduated from Bootcamp and four months since he left. His PIR was awesome, something we will never forget. He has now been in A school for almost 2 months and is doing well. We get to talk to him more often and he shares what he is doing. He has made some new friends and is able to talk to old ones. I have learned so much about myself and my son these past few months. N4M is the most awesome place. All the moms on this site are so great. The support and the fri… Continue

Just missing my son

Yesterday while I was at work Dan called, hey he said. I told him I was at work and couldn't talk long. For some reason after I hung up with him I almost fell apart. My co-workers said it was okay, they were great, they know Dan he worked at the same place for a few months before he left. My reaction surprised me, he has been gone for almost four months and he calls at least once a week, so it's not like I don't talk to him. I guess I just really am missing him. He is my baby, now when I talk to… Continue

BOOTCAMP A MOMS PERSPECTIVE!

I thought that after a month since Dan graduated i would post my thoughts about bootcamp. he left March 25, 2008. They picked him up the night before and he spent the night in a hotel in downtown Phoenix. The next morning he called at 5:30 a.m., just wanted to say Hi. We left early that morning for MEPS and spent several hours waiting. At 11:00 a.m. he was sworn in and his group was ready to leave for the airport. We said our good bye's, Dan said your going to be okay mom gave him a hug and he… Continue

Hey Lynn,
Congrats on the new daughter n law!!! Sounds like Dan is doing great! We found out a little bit back that we are going to have another baby, my due date is May 8th. Eric turned in his release paperwork and it's in St. Louis right now going through all the steps to get him back in. Hopefully they won't take forever with it, but it's the Navy and hury up and wait, but at least they have it and he's been released from everything.
Other than that just getting ready for the holidays here. Can't believe x-mas is next month already, but I also look at it as, I'm half way to my due date. This baby was a BIG surprise and not what I was expecting the doctor to tell me that. We are hoping for a girl since we already have two boys.
I hope all is well for you, and I hope to hear from you again.

Hi Lynn - just wondering how your son did today?
Michael called me - very excited because he not only passed but ended up 2nd in his class! :)
He's glad to have that behind him and is now looking forward to coming home at Christmas (I told him he is going to freeze!). :)ann

Hi Lynn,
I saw your note on the nuke moms sight about your son graduating from A school on Nov 14th - My son is also graduating that day so they must be in the same class. Unfortunately Michael has to t-track while they fix his clearance so he won't be going right to power school. He is very glad to be just about finished with A school though.
Anyway - just thought I'd drop a note - it's always nice to have small connections. :)ann
