Profile Information

About me:
I work in Actuarial Systems at a large insurance company. I've been employed there for 19 years. My father is a retired Army officer. I have three grown children. My oldest son enlisted in the Navy after having been laid off from his job. He was about ten years older than his fellow boot camp shipmates, married with two school age children.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Stephen
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
I was very proud of Stephen when he graduated basic training. He then went on to BESS training and sonar A school. He's very happy with the Navy and plans to make it a career.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was confused, Needed to learn more about it
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
I learned that even children who aren't so young can find a calling with the Navy. And just because he isn't 18 anymore doesn't mean that his mom is any less concerned.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
The Navy has a lot to offer

Is there a Sunrise Campground in your town? I used to camp at that campground, but I thought the town may have been Monson.
Hope to see you Saturday and meet you face to face.Wendy

Hi Jeanne,
It looks like your son is on the USS New Hampshire. Are you going to the commissioning ceremony on October 25? My son was in Groton when they were working on the boat and he said it is an awesome, state of the art sub. We llive in New Hampshire so were pretty excited about the boat. Do you know when they will go out for they first deployment? The USS New Hampshire is a fast attack sub and I am told they stop in foreign ports so your son will get to see lots of places. Hope your son likes his boat.
Take care, Lynn
