About me:: I've been an RN in pediatrics for almost 20 years. My 5th and youngest child, joined the Navy last week and I'm bursting with pride. I am separated from my husband of 37 years and live alone with my dog, Sable. My three oldest kids are married and have given me 7 grandchildren. I am truly blessed.

When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:: Was concerned or afraid, Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Encouraged him/her

My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:: Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

I grew up right outside of DC near College Park. I have a lot of family there and will be staying with my best friend when I'm there later this month, for my son's graduation. It is amazing to me how many people I have met from Maryland here in CA.

My son is a 3rd generation Californian on his father's side. Something of a rarity even in California. LOL! Coronado is beautiful. Love that famous, old Hotel there.

I live in an apartment too (and I loved that movie Holiday). Can't afford any million dollar shack here in Santa Monica even though I've lived here for 30+ years!

I was just wondering why you found the group and had an interest. You are VERY kind to offer help for the sailors who might get stuck at the airport late at night :-).

Oh there is a So. Cal group that has a lot of people in the San Diego area. You might want to join that group too. I'm a part of it because, well I DO live in So Cal, but closer to Pt Hueneme and the Seabees.

I will be up there in a few weeks. Ryan graduates from the guard. I'll be driving his car up and flying back so this will be the only problem we will have on transportation. It was over $300 more to fly out of DC than it was BWI. We will be staying in Woodstock, Md with my uncle. I am not sure where that is. I still have other family in Severn and Dundalk.
