About me:
I'm not a mom but I'm a Navy & Marine sister. My mom's not very computer savy so I'm helping to calm her nerves (again) since my younger brother left to bc.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
( My Brother) David
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
He made the decision to enlist after our baby brother left to Marine boot camp. He was inspired at what our little brother has accomplished and how much he has grown.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was proud, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
Just b/c you went through it with one kid, it's never gets easy after the other leaves. All the emotions are still the same, exciting, nerve-racking and wouldn't want it any different.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

I agree with your brother, the marine! You've got to be there to help him celebrate. He has worked so hard for this, and it must have been so hard not to get discouraged and give up. He should have a couple of days before he starts school. :) Congratulations on your Sailor!

Wow Steph! That is so great! Don't worry about the PIR, David probably will enjoy the ballcap ceremony just as much. What field is he going into? My son is in Groton, Ct. He sounded a little stressed today when I talked to him. I guess it is a little stressful the first couple of weeks. We are going this weekend to bring him some things. I can't wait to see him. I'll bet you can't wait to see David either! :) Please let me know when he passes battle stations, which by the way is not that difficult. They actually have a lot of fun doing battle stations. Thanks for letting me know. I was on a page with a group with a PIR of 7/3. A couple of them are going through the same thing. They missed it by seconds, and they are being made to call home and tell their parents not to come. So now the poor moms don't know what to do ... should they go, should they stay? We've been on that rollercoaster ride, haven't we? I will be saying prayers for them.

I am so sorry!! It must be heartbreaking for ya'll to be so close to PIR, thinking its almost over. I can't imagine how you feel.
Try to remember that everything happens for a reason. Its not the end of the world, he's alive and healthy!! I'm not being condescending, just trying to help put this awful setback in perceptive. Good luck!

No problem...we will see you at the Navy Lodge. I am going to put an event out tomorrow and I was thinking that we could all get together with our families and have dinner, drinks, and just meet everyone on Thursday nite. That way our families know who to think for keeping us sane these last few weeks.lol...take care and I will talk to you later.
