About me:
I am a Navy Mom in training - I have no idea how to best support my daughter when she starts Navy boot camp on 13 May 2008, just four days from today. I want to support her, and give her encouragement, and help her as best as I can when she gets homesick.

This will be the first time in 27 years that I am all alone, and I am both excited for my Jennifer Kathrine (Katie as we call her) and her adventures in the Navy, and my own adjustment to a whole new life...
My child's first name:
Jennifer (Katie)
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
She decided on her own to join the Navy. It took a lot of courage, because it was the last thing we ever expected her to do.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Needed to learn more about it, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
I am still learning - but so far, I am satisfied that what I have learned, just reinforces the impression that this is the right thing for my baby to do...
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger

People with bad luck...

My daughter Jennifer/Katie is sending home a bunch of letters that people have sent her - she does not have room for all of them. I look through each envelop to make sure there is not a letter for ME - then put the letters in a file folder to keep for her until she comes home. I happened to see a small slip of paper in one of the envelopes (I received seven letters today - five of which were full of old letters that she has no room for), and found a good joke - even though it is not Navy relate… Continue

More smileys...

I am having a difficult time stopping... I have a need to post smileys... It is because I have written so many letters in the past few weeks, that finding fun smileys has become an addiction to me... forum smileys I like this one - Star Wars theme and all... Continue

Is there life after my "letter-a-day" campaign???

My Jennifer/Katie is heading for Battlestations this week - and with some luck she will be a SAILOR when she is done! Yeah! So now I wonder.... I see an end to this letter-a-day campaign - and I will miss it... Yet I wonder if there is life after writing all these letters... I will miss trying to come up with something new and interesting every day to write about. It has not been that difficult - my imagination is pretty good when it comes to writing - yet it has been a challenge. One day I… Continue

Feet on my coffee table...

I am on my back - or sitting down, trying to get spasms in my lower back to stop. 22 years ago I hurt my back when I picked up my then two year old son. Every now and then my back acts up - lately if I get too ambitious with my house cleaning, which does not happen as often as it should... :-( I have decided I need to just let my house go and NOT ever clean again... NO??? Hm... OK, perhaps I will reconsider... So tonight I am playing with my new phone, a Nokia 6301, if you are in the market fo… Continue

Up close of my new baby grandson...

OK, I warned you all... Here is a picture of this cutie up close... He looks like his daddy. Here he is being held by one of his grandpa's: (Taken with my camera phone - I forgot my real camera - yes, I am getting OLD!)

The fuzzy stuff on his head is actua… Continue

Eva, I hope you won't give up on me based on what I shared with you. I really do get up at 4:00a.m. most of the time. And I really do get tired around 8:00-9:00p.m because I am up early. I am funny, when I get tired, I kind of shut down. Can't think well. Anyway, I do great one on one, if you ever want to talk. I will look for you, gotta get a hug in right?

Hi, Have you seen the video called "just a good PIR videl?" It starts out with this family filming their day at graduation and a little into it, it shows the ceremony, the flags the marching in of divisions, that part is soooooo cool it choked me up, I bet that is why everyone is saying to bring the Kleenix. Let me know what you think, Leta
