Marines on the Bataan Miss Sue and Sailor Joe Men in Kilts! USS Bataan in port at NYC

Profile Information

About me:
I am married to Bill. We have three sons, Joseph, William and Steven and a bulldog named Maggie. Joe is my sailor, Will is a senior in high school and is now a Marine Corps Poolee and Steve is a freshman in high school this year. I <3 NavyForMoms.com!!
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Joe
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
I have always been proud of Joe but I was especially proud when he made the decision to join the Navy and build a future for himself and when he graduated from boot camp and, of course, when he graduated A school with honors and he continues to make me more and more proud every day!
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Was relieved, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
Letting him find his own way.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Sailor Quote Sunday

"And a sailor you must be if you're going to try ocean voyaging. You'll need a modicum of sailing aptitude, some grasp of mechanical concepts, and a willingness to pitch in and work. Most veteran world sailors fall into the classification of restless adventurers who are always looking at distant horizons." Hal Roth After 50,000 Miles

Hi Sue, I was excited to see there was a group for CTTs. My son is a CTT in Mayport, FL. He has been in now for 4 years and reinlisted this past spring. My husband and I are just so proud of him. Look forward to hearing from others.

My mom died Dece 13 2007, and dad Dece 30 2005. So we got slammed in a short period of time. Daughters seem to miss their moms more, and that is certainly the case here.My mom put on a brave front when dad died, but I think she was doing a whole lot worse than she let on.
I miss her terribly right now, and have the tissues on the sofa for there are so many movies that trigger the tears without warning. Give mom lots of hugs Sue, whether she seems to need it or not.
My mom seemed to deal with her parents loss so much better than I am. Wish I knew the trick.

Three of Derek's friends from here drove over there Tuesday night. I sent some cakes, pie, cookies and goodies with them. They ate at Golden Corrall today. Not sure what they are doing tonight though.
