About me:
My husband and I are from Stockton, California. We have one son starting his senior year in College down in Orange County, and a daughter that is finishing her senior year in high school. Our son Chris is the middle child. He joined the Navy April 8th to become an IT. My husband is a Chiropractor and also the director of the California Chiropractor Association for eight counties in the central valley area. For my mid-life crisis (40) I decided to go back to school. I am currently working towards a nursing degree. Our family motto is LIVE LAUGH LOVE. It makes better days.

I was the proudest of my child when:
Chris went to a military high school in San Luis Obispo. He completed one year of high school in 5 months. He wanted to see in the military was for him. Watching him graduate was my proudest moment. Joining the Navy was the best thing that has ever happened to my son.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:

As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
What area of the Navy was best suited for my son. I was afraid he was going to get board in the job he selected. I was excited to find out that if he wants to change jobs he can. I think he was pretty happy with that . I feel the classifier put him exactly where he belongs according to his test scores.

This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hey Teresa, Happy Thanksgiving. Hope you had a good one. Mine was nice. I got a call from Jacob. He let me know he will be home for Christmas. He graduated from A school. And has some dental work to get done before they will let him leave. Then from here he goes to Norfolk. I can't wait to see him. How is Chris doing? Is he liking it in Washington? I think it would be a great area to be stationed. It sounds like he has a lot of friends there so he won't be lonely. Take care and write when you can. Barbara

I am so excited about Jacob getting to come home for Christmas. Plus the good news is he found out he will be close to home where he is going to be stationed. So unless his ship is out I hope to be able to see a good bit of him. I am only about four hours away from Norfolk. I was really praying he would get there. It was good that you got to celebrate Chris' birthday with him. I know that meant alot to both of you. I agree that our sons have chosen the right area to be in. They should be able to go far with their careers. I am so proud of Jacob and I know you are of Chris. They have such great opportunities available to them. Hi Teresa, My son,Jacob,is in Pensacola too. He graduates from IT school in about two weeks but will be in holding until mid-Dec. But he will be home for Christmas if all goes well. He found out Norfolk is where he will be stationed. He will be assigned to the USS Kearsarge. He is excited about it. Hope to hear from you about how Chris is doing? Jacob has mentioned Corry Station when I have talked to him. I am not sure where he is exactly where he is. Hope to hear from you soon. Barbara

Hi, Ryan got home Friday night for 21 days. He is off to Hawaii on 9/26, I wouldn't mind being stationed their. It is so great having him hold and knowing he is sleeping in his bed. It will be very hard to say good-bye again because it is so far away. It misses his friends already and plans to make a trip to DC in the future. I hope they all stay in touch and remaing lifelong friends. Chris will be home before you know it. Keep in touch.

Hey you!!! How's school going? My students have already started. I'm excited. We start clinicals soon. I have junior level students. They are so cute! I met them in simLab. Boy will I educate them on our med/surg floor. It's pretty intensive. Lots of learning opportunities. If you get a clinical at a VA-Take it! It's great for learning. How is Chris?

My son just called me today and he said he is going through the indoc type Phase 1. He's also got Color guard (raising/lowering the flag) Him and the other two guys from his Div that got roomed together bought a little sound system and some CDs so they are happy as clams. His roomies got their laptops at the exchange, and Michael wanted to know when he'd be getting the one I mailed to him...I told him Friday and he was happy. Sounds like they really like it. He's already worried about where he's going to get stationed. I told him the only way to be certain of where he wants is to fisnish top 3 so he can have first pick at the orders. It's up to him. So your son really likes the IT rating? I will say the new barracks they've built here in San Diego is unbelieveable. You can do a search on Pacific Beacon.com Like living in your own condo. Even has a club style outdoor pool on the top level of the parking garage. Very nice. Well hope all goes well with your son's future plans/career. If he has any pointers to share with newbies to the IT way of life, please pass them along and I'll let my son know :) Have a blessed week.
