About me:
I am an operating nurse at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. I have three children, Samuel 23 who is half way through his basic, Sarah 20 is going to be a junior at Salem College and Joseph 15 lives sleeps and eats fire dept stuff like his father. Driver's Ed is in his future.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Samuel
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
He made the decision to join the NAVY and have a future.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was proud, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
Patience with the process........
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
This was a maturing experience, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hey, sorry that it has taken me so long to get back to you. We went to Tennessee after we left GLon Sunday. I am so glad that Samuel and Andrew are room mates. He said he really gets along with him. I met Abby too on Friday. I will talk to you soon, Keep in touch. Susan

Are you going to Flannigans on Thursday night? I would love to visit! We are staying at the Comfort Inn and will arrive Thursday in the morning - I told my husband we were going to Ikea before we headed to Great Lakes (he's less than thrilled! :)
I think we can take around 400 patients - the ICU has 28 beds but when those are all full it's stretching our resources staff wise. We get everything from post open hearts to ventrics to sepsis so it's a pretty challenging unit (especially to a new "old" nurse - I'm about to turn 40 but I've only been a nurse for 3 years). :)
I work the next 3 nights and then we leave Wed night - so I should go work on packing (especially since when I get off Wed am at 0730 we have two mtgs back to back - then I can come home and sleep for about 3 hours before I need to pick up a friend after his day surgery - then off to the airport). I'm really hoping to visit this next weekend! :)ann

Hi Alice, just saw your note on the nurses page - I'm a critical care nurse in Anchorage, Alaska - my son's PIR is also 8/1 (6 days left!). I'd type more but I just got off shift and need to get to sleep! :)ann

Hi Alice,
Check out this website. There is a little video showing the whole thing. It helped me to understand the process...

Hi Alice, I don't start in Open Heart until Monday. I'm really looking forward to Monday. Should be exciting learning something new. Sorry to hear of your accident, I know how bad those injuries can be. I will keep you in my prayers and hope you are back on two good legs soon. Matthew is doing great. He was home for a short visit over the 4th. Was great to see him. He is EPO in his class. (Education Petty Officer). How is Samuel doing? Have you been able to talk to him yet? When is PIR? Hang in there it will be here before you know it. Cindy

Yes, the phone call did help. It went so fast. I spoke to him for 5 min, because I wanted him to call his father as well. Its just so hard. But I was glad to even get a minute. It must be very difficult for you. Yes they must be very busy. I look forward to the end of boot camp.... Have a good night and talk to you tomorrow....
