Profile Information

About me:
I served in the Navy, myself, in the 80's, I was a Corpsman. My son enlisted on 5/29/08. He's on SHIP 10, DIV 266, graduation PIR 7/25!! We were a military family, my sons were raised on Military bases, and we moved around a lot. I want to stay connected with other Moms, for information, as this Navy is much different than the one I enlisted in, in the 80's. I have lots questions, and i hope to be able to answer questions, as I do have experience as to what the life of a recruit is like.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Jake
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
He actually decided to enlist. I took him right down the recruiting station, the next day! I was so proud, and happy to hear him say that he wanted to serve his country,
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
To support him, with all of his decisions. This is the begining of the rest of his life.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
This was a maturing experience, This was the best decision he/she could have made

I just got back from a wonderful week in Cozumel. Well, on the flight to Cozumel, there we're a good 20 soldiers, passing through the airport, running to catch their connecting flights, eating while they hurried to find their new gates, looking dazed. There I was, crying, as I watched them, holding my hand over my heart, and saying thank you, with tears running down my face. They all must've thought, " Oh no, go the other way; keep running". My husband looked at me and said, OMG! "Here you go, p… Continue

Good meeting you yesterday. Don't work too hard tomorrow-glad to hear your son has a place to go on Thanksgiving day. [I thought that's what you said?] You have a nice holiday as well.

Hi Maureen
I have windows Vista and I found the program on there. I posted it on youtube so my son could see it and so I could link to it and put it on my Navy4Mom page. Glad you liked the video!

Picked up the number-thanks. I am an early riser, so if early is better, I could meet you anytime after 8:30am. Let me know-and check around Ronert Park for a coffee place that is near Costco. I have to make my weekly trek there anyway.Looking forward to meeting you next week or after that.
