About me:
I am a 53 year old mom with two boys and a wonderful husband. My oldest (24) is an aviation machinists mate in Texas. He recently married a lovely girl he met in boot camp.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Adam
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
I first saw him in uniform the day he graduated b/c. He was so handsome and stood so tall and proud.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
Spending time on N4Ms is imperative to ones mental health.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

No Ordinary Mom

I will cry without shedding tears
Cringe without showing my fears
Pray without moving my lips
Dream always of incoming ships
For I am the mother of a U.S. Sailor

How soon they grow up.

The Navy has a new Petty Officer

I got a wonderful call from my son tonight. He was supposed to test for his promotion in March but was told a couple of months ago that he could test early. So with only a few days to study (and no books), he borrowed some books and took the test. Afterwards he said he wasn't sure how he did. I told him to remember he didn't get much notice and if he didn't pass, he could always try again in March. But pass he did and is now Petty Officer 3rd Class. I'm so proud of him.

Christmas without my sailor.

All I want for Christmas...how often have we finished that sentence with a selfish request. All I want for Christmas is a new washer, a big screen tv, new clothes, jewelry, my sailor home. It's not meant to be again this year. When he called Friday he said "Mom, we won't be home for Christmas, Kandas's leave was denied so I cancelled mine." "I understand, I said, we will just leave the decorations up again for as long as it takes and celebrate Christmas when you get here." We talked awhil… Continue

I've added a new group titled "Poetry". There is so much writing talent on here. I thought we could use a place to showcase all the poems. Feel free to post your poems on the group page.

DEP moms

I've read so many blogs about "the box" and just thought of something that might help moms with children in DEP. Before your child leaves for boot camp, how about asking them to write you a note to include in the box when they send it home. Those 3 little lines that come with the form letter we get in the beginning are so precious. We all live for their letters when they are in boot camp. If they could send a note with the box, it wouldn't feel so final and impersonal. If they place the note in… Continue

I have a new Navy daughter!

What a wonderful end to a week that started out so bad. First there was the funeral of my brother-in-law then a desperate phone call from my son. I had sent him a package with his birth certificate, his dad's and my wedding rings, and a letter to the happy couple. On Wednesday, he still hadn't gotten the package. I went to our post office and was informed the package had been delivered to my son's base on Monday. Upon checking, the package was no where to be found. I was more concerned with the… Continue

Lisa you little smarty pants, what a great idea with the Photo Albums.
I rarely share anything in a public forum about myself, that's why you couldn't find anything. But here it goes:
Uli, born and raised in Europe ( like the name isn't a dead give away)
married Emil ( ja I know another funny name, but born in Muskegon MI)
raised 3 Darlings, oldest girl Eleonor ( Ja I know another funny spelling)
then a Boy Lyle, then the "Baby"James, marriage is 44 and still a project in the making, it's a fun project. Raising the bonus Baby was alot of fun, he was an easy kid, Active in Music, Band, Jackson symphony, boy scouts, We are now retired, from raising kids, work, and all things we do not want to do anymore. Life has been good still have our original friends and keep adding new ones.

Lisa good Luck with the Eagle Scout project. James' is the Concord United Methodist Pic Nic grounds behind the church. If you are ever in that area. We are still active with the Scouts Troup 144 Spring Arbor.
Wonder if we have seen each other with a Scout happening, like the chicken dinner at the Camp - o - Ree this past summer, I was serving Potato's.

Done , Lisa show us what you have in mind please, and I'll follow suit. I have name tags and I am going make little bitty bow like things to pin on, nothing fancy, a little Patriotic and a little Merry Holiday, all in one.
I do not want to overwhelm anybody in the group, some people are kind of funny that way. I believe in Kis ( keep it simple )
