Marian ~ Checking in with you to see how you're doing. Looks like you're towards the end of BC since you have his picture up. Are you getting excited? Where's he heading for A-school? Has he gone through BS yet?

Hope everyones OK. I know what its like to be an evacuee and yet my husband fed the evacuees 3 meals a day for 2 months at the Pentecostal camp in Lufkin when we had to evacuate. When we got home, what a horrible site! Well, you are halfway through, so I know you are better than a month ago, but still have another month left to worry and wait. I'd love to share stories...

Marian, I was reading through posts tonight and read yours of July 5 to Karen. It brought back a moment I shared with my son late at night on the Saturday night before he left. He came home after his brothers & sister had one of the many fair well parties for him. It had been a very emotional night for him for many reasons. He woke me up at 2 am to tell me about it. At times he was so emotional he was brought to tears. After a long talk we went down to the kitchen (he was hungry at this point) I started to make him a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich (this became his favorite snack before he left), he went into the bathroom, when he came out he turned to me and said, "Mom are you going to be OK with me leaving". My heart was breaking with the thought of him leaving (oh forgot to tell you he is the youngest of 4) but I was so proud of him and knew he really wanted to join the Navy. This had become his dream, so I heald back the tears and said, I'd miss him terribly but I would be fine. I think these memoried will stay with us forever and I wouldn't give up that night for anything. His PIR is 8/14 can't believe I'll get to see him in 3 weeks. Maripat

Hi Marian ~ I wouldn't have ever know about N4M's had I not searched around looking at Navy sites after I found out Morgan had enlisted. I am so very thankful I found it. My hubby probably would've thought I was going nuts and put me someplace! He doesn't understand these emotions, thoughts, and feelings I've been going through. I was trying to explain to my Mom, when I had composed myself after getting Morgan's box, how I was feeling. When I told her it was normal, she told me it wasn't. Had it not been for this site, I wouldn't have been able to say, yes it is, I've been talking to Mom's all over this country who are feeling exactly what I'm feeling. I always know that when I get on N4M I can read understanding, encouragement, support, etc. It's been amazing. I hope you get your 3 liner soon and more than that your first letter. That's emotional too!

Hey Marian, I was invited to join the Navy Dads web site so I did. There's some Mom's on there too. However, I was just told that there is a new group called Ask A Sailor. It was started by a couple of guys who just got of of BC. They want to help answer questions that we have about BC. If you want, check it out. I joined cuz I figured the less question I have for Morgan, the better it'll be for him when writing! Hope your day is going well.

Hang in there Marian it gets better...my daughter graduated PIR on June 6th, when she left i felt like just shutting myself from the whole world and I was like you I did not want to go out for dinner, the movies, the mall or anything at all with my other 2 daughters, but you will find the strength you need. It goes by faster than you think I remember dropping her off and the next thing you know I was planning on the trip to Great Lakes. Just hang in there I know its easier said than done...

Hi Marian, it looks like from the last message, that you received 'the box'. It's funny how we refer to it as 'the box'. Were you okay when you got it? I was a basket case. Couldn't let go of Morgan's clothes for awhile. Thought they had kept his cell battery as well. You should receive the form letter with the 3 liner from your son about a week from when you got his box. That was tough for me. It was the first time I saw Morgan's handwriting since the day before he left for BC. So many tough days, but it does get easier, although they never leave your mind.
