About me:
I'm retired (early!) and I' m getting used to staying home and going to the gym, shopping etc..My son is 21 yrs old and was out on his own for 8 months and working, then one day he called and said he was going to join the Navy. My heart sank, I'm proud and very sad at the same time. He decided to stay in 5 years. I will miss him so much and I hope this web site will help me talk to other mom's and cope with all these changes. I also have a daughter Meghan who is 22 and just graduated from the Univeristy of Missouri...she's awesome. I've been blessed with two great kids and plus the dog Sophia.

I was the proudest of my child when:
When I saw Kyle march out at PIR, tears flooded my eyes. I knew right then my son made the right decision. I've never felt so blessed......here was my wonderful son with a heart of gold and now a new SAILOR.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:

As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
Having N4M's has been a blessing and I know my Kyle made the right choice. I just wish my broken heart would heal. And now it has after 4 weeks!! Yeah. And now after PIR, I know it will be important to stay in touch with moms while we all go through A school for it will be many months before seeing our sailors again.

This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Happy Thanksgiving Sheryl. Hope all is going well for you. I miss our chats on here. I hope your doing ok. How is Kyle doing? Is he still at GL? Wyatt is doing good. He is so anxious to come home for christmas. We will pick up at the airport on the 19th. Can't wait to see him. He is staying pretty busy with school. I was so thankful that he was invited to a friends today for Thanksgiving. Holidays are always the hardest. I miss him every day but more so today. I need to get back over to my inlaws for supper so better get going. Hope to hear from you soon dear friend!

Hi Sheryl,
Just wanted to say hello and to see how you and your family are doing. Hows Klye doing? Bill is still in Florida, should be finidhed with his A-school in December. He will get to come home for Christmas. Then off to his duty station, we are hoping that he gets Virginia. 4 hrs away from us. But, who knows, hopefully we will know by the end of the month. Hope all is well with your Mom, How is she doing? As you can tell I am not on here much, but still think of all the Navy moms. write back when you can. Happy Holidays to you and your Family. Trica

sheryl, you have a very good looking son. My son Billy is also 21 and he is my only child. I am very proud of him as well, knowing that he made the right decision. The thing is now my daughter-in-law is thinking about going in herself. Billy is stationed at Avoca, which is right outside of Wikes Barre Scranton Pa area. He is a Seabee and once his 6 years are up, he wants to make a career of it.

Hey Girl....sorry I haven't gotten back to you. I don't spend a lot of time on here these days. Not like the bootcamp days! You know we really thought Jessica was the one for Travis but some things just aren't meant to be I guess. Travis has been pretty down on himself since the breakup but I told him the best is still out there and he will find her! Hope your doing okay. How is your mom doing? Your parents are lucky to have you there and appreciate all that you do for them I am sure. Glad to hear Meghan is coming around. It's never easy to see parents seperate. I haven't been doing much other than work! Work SUCKS right now!!!!! I didn't make it to the Nebraska get together on Saturday because I had car trouble on the way and had to turn around and go back home. YES, CAR trouble with the NEW CAR!!! I really wanted to meet the other Nebraska Moms! We are expected to get snow tomorrow into Thursday! Can you believe that!!!!! up to 6 inches!!!!!!! I hope the weather man is wrong! Not ready for the white stuff!!!!!! You take care my friend. I think about you every day! Bye for now!

All is good here I guess. I turned 44 on Sunday and feel great for the most part. Rob says more but you know... I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I do hope that things are going to get better. God Bless her. And you too! Well, Ashley is still in Great Lakes at school. She and Chris are over for good. She has another guy friend not sure how serious they are. Hope not at all but she has always seemed to "need" someone. Especially given that she's just 17 and so far away from family. She is getting a couple weeks leave at Christmas so she will be home. Cross your fingers that she won't come home and be rude. I really think that boy influenced her in a negative manner. But... then again who am I to judge. It's great to here that Kyle is doing good. I'm glad. And yes, you would have thought that since neither myself or Ashley's dad went to college that she would really be working her tail off and not complaining about everything. I have no idea what she will do when it is time to go back after her break is over. I too am nervous about that. She can't go awall or she'll go to jail. I would imagine she should have her orders when she comes home for Christmas. I bet you she will be deployed. You watch and see. Then she really will flip her lid. Well, I've got to get some supper started so that if Chloe has a good afternoon and early evening we can play Mancala with her. She loves that game. Take care, write when you can. Love, V

Hey Girl...so nice to hear from you. What a nice surprise to my day! I have missed you too. It seems like I have been so busy that I don't spend much time on here and like you said, now that boot camp is over our needs have changed. I am so glad to hear they got all of your mom's cancer! What a relief that is to your family! I am sure your dad is very thankful to have you there to help out. How are things going with the divorce? I am sorry that your going thru that but as you said it's for the best. Travis and his girlfriend have broke up. Jessic moved out yesterday. Travis of course is devastated. She wants to pursue other things that don't include Travis I guess. She is only 19 and they have been together for 2 years so I am guessing she is wanting to enjoy college life more than she could be in relationship. As I told Travis being apart might bring them closer together and if not, God has something better in store for him. I have been really busy with work and my mom is having health issues too so I haIve dealing with her. Glad to hear Kyle is doing well. That is great he will be home in 9 weeks! I am jealous. Wyatt is doing good. His classes are hard and so he is having to work harder than he thought he was going to have to I think. He is a smart kid and as long as he applys himself he will do well. He won't be home until christmas so we have a ways to go. Can't wait to see him. We talk just about every day and that helps. I will email you my number. Would love to talk to you. I am going to Lincoln next Saturday to meet the N4M Nebraska group. I am excited to meet them. Take care!

Hi Sheryl, I understand crazy all too well. I hope your Mom gets to remission soon. Sorry to hear about the divorce. Niko is still in Florida for 2 more weeks. Then he comes home. He's counting the days. He is so excited to come home. He wants to BBQ so bad. So we will feed him his favorite home cooked meals before he goes to his duty station. He is doing really good. The Navy was the best thing he could have done. He wouldn't of done anything here at home if he stayed. I miss him, but its nice to see him make something of himself. Glad to hear Kyle is doing well. It sure makes us feel better to know they are ok... Will Kyle be coming home soon? You have a great weekend. I will talk to you later.
