Profile

About me:
I was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida. My husband recently retired from the Navy we moved to Merritt Island, Florida from Kings Bay Naval Base in Kingsland, Ga. My son Chad joined the navy as a MA and left for bootcamp on March 18, 2008. He is my only child though I have a wonderful step-daughter Kristen that currently lives with us. We have two dogs Bo and Daisy who miss Chad as much as we do!
My child's first name:
Chad
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
When he drove away from us in the Navy van on his way to boot camp. He simply looked at the window with tears and held up the peace sign.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was proud
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
How hard it is to let go. Being a Navy wife, I know they are in good hands but you have to except that it is no longer your hands. It is great that we have so many young men and woman willing to dedicate their life to service. Because of these beautiful souls we do not have to enforce the draft. It is easier knowing that this is what they want to do!
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

I guess I need to check out other Navy websites to get some other ideas, of just what they are going thru.. Jeez doesn't it get easier at some point ? Talk to ya soon. Take care.

He was so excited when we saw Jarrett in the Exchange. He did look great. He was smiling at us. I said Chad don't get him in trouble. Jarrett looked around for his RDC and then came and said hey to us. He was smiling and like Chad he looked like he belong there. I told him I would email you as soon as I go home and let you know that he looked so relaxed and ahppy. email me at donajones@hotmail.com and give me your email and I will send you some pic of this weekend.

Hey Dona. I have to tell you I was so touched from Chad calling me this afternoon. I actually had to cry alittle. Goodness it touches my heart to know that our guys are so thoughtful of others.. I told Chad Congradulations and I was Proud of him.. I really hope that him and Jarrett end up attending A school together.. Jarrett said cool when I told him today about your last post.. And that Chad was going to be on hold and it is possible they'd begin classes together.. I really hope so , just because they do know each other and they seemed to get along fine. You should be very Proud of that young man, he is a sweet kid. Nothing meant by that I call all Jarrett's friends (kids) guess because I am old enuff to be their Mom too.. I am so Happy you are up spending time with Chad. Can't wait to see Jarrett.. But I know I am going to cry like a baby .. I am very emotional when it invloves my kids and family and friends and animals.. I cry watching tv .. My daughter just gives me the tissue box most of the time.. LOL.. Please keep in touch .. God Bless

Dona got a letter today .Jarrett said he has made all perfects on his inspections so far. He has/ had Live Fire Monday and said if he gets perfect there then he will get a gold medal.. ? I am not happy to hear about our guys going over to the mid. east. But that was and is my biggest fear with all this .. Yet I know not any Mom / parent or wife wants their loved ones over in that mess. We fear enough at home when they start driving and going out on their own in our own (backyard) .. And as life goes we all grow up and move on.. He still says he hasn't seen Chad. I have another letter ready to mail tomorrow .. I have sent him word about Chad from you. Thanks again. God Bless..

Hi Rhonda:
Chad called on Saturday and I gave him Jarrett's div and ship. He said he has not seen up. However, he told me that he is on delay and he is going to Virgina now. He said the school in San Anotono is full. I am not sure where that will leave Jarrett. Chad said you get your orders the weekend before your PIR. Jarrett should know 2 weeks. I will let you know. I am excited counting the hours now until we fly out of Thursday. His girlfriend is on her way down from Ga. We moved here from Kings Bay/St Marys area. Chad and I are from Pensacola. I married 5 yrs ago. Chad and my husband Scott are very close. Chad's Dad lives in P'cola as well as all my family. They do not get to come home after PIR in fact it is not until they get to school that they start earning stuff back. Usually after the 1st week they get their computers and phones after the 2nd or 3rd they get clothes and so on...They get 2 weeks leave after school before their first duty. Chad said they are telling them that the MAs have an 80% chance they will go to the middle east such as Syria, Libya, Afgan I started to cry. He said Mom we have to do our part. I was so proud and taken back when he said that but between me and you I feel they need more training and maturity. I kinda thought their first duty would be more of a base for additional OTJ training. We will pray and stay in touch as we get info. God Bless

Dona Am trying to add you to my friends list..I am having troubles with some of this stuff. But it's just me.. LOL.. Haven't heard from Jarrett other than a few letters , lately.. Guess they haven't earned those other calls yet.. But as long as he eeps me in a letter a week I am happy.. considering how many others he writes.. He writes his Dad & family and my Mom in Ga.. All of my family besides a few Uncles live in Ga.. We have always been really close .. My husband his Step Dad since he wasn't quite 6 , has most of his family around the Orlando area. And his real dad lives in Port St. John most of his family around Cocoa area.. Anyway I wrote and sent bjarrett another letter after chatting with you.Now I will have to write again, since Chad may have extra days before going off to A school.. That would make it a long time, since Jarrett grads on the 30th.. But I never could understand the military.. Or the government.. LOL.. Will CHad get to come home first? I bet you are praying he does.. I know I am but not really expecting him too.. We would love to go home to Ga for a few days ,We always go arounfd Fathers' Day w/e in Memory of my dad.. BUt maybe not this year .. My nephew has jioned the Marines up there. and will be leaving sometime this summer..So enough.. keep in touch and have a safe trip to see Chad's PIR.. God Bless

Hi Rhonda:
Nice to hear from you again. I saw on here the Jarrett might be a grad-n-go? Chad told his girlfriend in a letter yesterday that he is on a delay after PIR for about 10 days since Jarrett is a gradngo maybe they will get to go to school together. Chad has always made friends very easy. Growing up my house has always been full of his friends. They have all been calling me to find out how he is doing. We are from Penscolal Beach, Florida and that is where all of our family is. He still goes back there all the time and sees his life long friends. They also through him a big going away party. We moved away when I married my husband when Chad was in 9th grade. He was the RPOC here before they left. He tried hard to get everyone together for all their stuff I think Jarrett was the only one he did not have to much trouble from. I am proud that Chad is a good person and great friend. That is what life is really all about. Both Chad and Jarrett were trying to change their date so they could leave together. Chad even tried to delay his date when they could'nt move Jarrett up so hopefully they get to leave together! Today should be a phone call home day. I will ask him about Jarrett and get back with you after I hear from him! Have a great weekend. Take care
