About me:
I am a proud mother of three..My oldest daughter is 21, she just got engaged, my oldest son Daniel has just went to bootcamp he is in the Navy, my youngest is a sophmore in high school. I work full time and own my own painting & ceramic tile buisness. I have 3 dogs and two cats. I have a big family, lots of friends and a great church. My son that is in the Navy is the most giving person on the planet, he loves life, and his brother is his best friend, i just know he will make a great sailor......
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Daniel
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
He graduated high school, and when he joined the Navy.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was concerned or afraid, Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
Be encouraging, this is the life they have chosen stand behind them 110% all the time no matter what.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made

We probably got to the base around 7AM. I believe the gates open at 630AM. They will put your car in 1 of 4 lines of cars...two lines have the cars searched by a dog, the other two lines are required to open all compartments, leave all bags in the cars and the people are to take their ID's and get out of the cars. The search process is a quick one. After that, you'll be directed to a parking area and showed where to park....and they pack them in pretty good. From the parking lot you will go to a nearby building where someone in your party may have their bag checked and go thru a detector. They have a group of people checking everyone in. They will want to know your sailors name and the DIV number. They will check one or more ID's in the group and then everyone will have their hand stamped and head out to another building. The drill hall is probably less than 5 minutes away from the check in area. At the door you will get a program. Each division has one sailor standing near a sign with their DIV number on it. Try to sit in that area...I think our DIV was a little to the left of where we were sitting in the bleachers. If you are able to get out of their quickly after the ceremony, you might want to. We left very shortly afterwards and had no problem with traffic leaving the base or with getting a table at the restaurant. Ceremony last about 1 1/2hrs. Feel free to ask me or anyone any questions. I will try my best to answer them.

I just want to thank everyone for the warm welcomes. My son is getting ready to graduate Boot camp in Great Lakes next week. He has a few weeks before A-school for EO with the Sea Bees in Fort Leonard Wood (MO)reserves for now, but will probably go full duty eventually.

Hi Lisa, Just wanted to ask a question. Where did you buy a Navy Flag? I would love to get one. I read your from Carpentersville, IL. I live in New Jersey. Thought maybe you could give me an idea of what type of store would sell the Navy flag. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Hope you had a happy 4th!! Denise

Dear Momma Cline:
Hello and Welcome to N4M’s!
My name is Catherine the Admin and I’m glad you’ve joined us. As you start exploring you will see a great amount of chatter (IE: knowledge, support, advice, etc.) on our site (in our blogs, forums, and videos.) Before you add your point of view (POV) or ask questions, I want to share some ground rules with you. Here they are:
1) Please show respect at all times for all who belong to this community. (I like to say- Keep it civil… and everybody love everybody!)
2) For security, please do not reveal the current location of your Sailor or Officer.
3) Remember that this community is public, so anything you post (about yourself, your child or someone else) can be seen by anyone.
4) This site is moderated, so inappropriate content will be removed, like anything vulgar, hateful, violent, racist or otherwise obnoxious or illegal.
5) We may remove anything deemed inappropriate or inaccurate.
6) Members who solicit, advertise products, spam or flood on this site will be asked to walk the plank. Seriously.
7) DON'T SHOUT! Writing in capital letters means you're screaming in the digital world. That's not nice. So to emphasize a word, place *asterisks* on either side.
8) Let’s be tidy. Before beginning a new topic in the Forums, try searching at the top right of your screen to see if the subject has been addressed already. AKA- Be BEST friends with the search button!
9) Please don’t send the site's administrator (that’s me!) questions about the Navy. That’s what the Forums and your local recruiter are for. This site's administrators are NOT members of the U.S. Navy. They're here to keep the topics organized but cannot provide any Navy-related answers, nor can they respond to personal questions. (And trust me, Navy Moms answer quicker and better than I ever could)
10) Feel free to contact me with suggestions or comments about this site’s functionality.

Okay, so those are the house rules. Time to connect with other Navy moms!
I look forward to reading more about you!
Sincerely, Catherine
