About me:
I am a 48 year old mother who has raised my son alone from day 1, his father has never met him, I adore him and love him dearly.
We both are from Danville, ILL and have lived in KY over 20 yrs. I adore the theatre as I have been in Broadway musicals for over 25 years. I am very easy going and compassionate,am a christian woman and my line of work is an RN.
Brandon is my sons name, he is 25 and had 6 yrs of college, he is an artist,he is a thinker, he has a kind spirit, and everyone he meets loves him right off the bat!!!!!
the pictures below are all HIS own work, he drew from scratch the pictures you see, except for the sunset!!!
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Brandon
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
He graduated college 2 years ago , and when he overcame ADD
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was concerned or afraid, Needed to learn more about it, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
I learned that you have to let them go and FLY!!!
Let go and let God!!!!
I encourage him as much as I can.

Hi Kelly,
Kudos to you for doing such an awesome job with your son!!
I love the theatre!! I was in Drama in highschool and should have stuck with it but got involved in other things.
Where is your son stationed? What is his job?

Wow, Kelly, I keep seeing new things on your site that click with our family! First, is that your art work on your photos? My daughter, Naomi (15), is very into art. Also, we are into theater as well. Currently my husband is in a British farce, he and I are preparing for a cabaret (not the musical, but a review of musical numbers), my daughter, Susanna (12) is playing the Toymaker in "Babes in Toyland" and my son, Nathanael (16) is the musical director for that production. We have been doing theater since before we were married (20 years ago), in fact we met in a play in which we played characters who get married! My son, Gabe (18-my recruit), has won many awards as a vocalist. The most recent was during our time in Alaska. He sang "Close Every Door" from "Joseph", appropriate for his current situation!!

Hey, I just noticed that you noted one of my son's favorite versus. "I know the plans I have for you. Plans for your good and not your destruction, to give you a future and a hope." In fact, when my son was performing contemporary Christian music with his brother, that was his "motto" verse. He's had an injury and another issue that has caused him to really need this verse because he had to be dropped from his spec ops division. I could not get through this without constant prayer!!!

Kelly, Please do join the BC group! I wish I had found N4M before my son left!!! I recommend getting the book "Honor, Courage, Commitment: Navy Boot Camp" by JF Leahy. It goes week by week through boot camp with one division. You can get it on Amazon. In the meantime, I recommend this site: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/navyjoin/l/aanavybasic1.htm
another I wish I had found before Gabe left! It has lots of helpful information. Good luck to you and your recruit!!!
