About me:
My son left for the navy on 4/15. We took him to LAX Sunday night and bid our farewells. It was hard say goodbye, but at the sametime we are so proud of him! He called at midnight to let us know he arrived safely. He could only talk for a minute or two, and doesn't know when he'll be able to call again.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Michael
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
Michael had a difficult time in high school, but finally came full circle. He completed his GED, and also got his high school diploma! We are very proud of him for following through with this.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was proud
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
I don't know if I can truthfully answer this question, as I've only been a navy mom for a few days. I suppose patience will be something I will learn, especially since I don't know when my son will be calling again.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
This was a maturing experience

thank you for asking how brian is. i dont know how he is doing as of right now? as what was said in the letter he will be set back. he has give limited light duty. i just hope they will take care of it. it sounds like its infected??he has never been a complainer so im sure it is serious. i have not recieved my second letter, hopefully soon? yes you are right god will watch over him for me i believe that strongly. i asked him too in my prayers. awhh it is hard right when their all gone. i know when my boys were little i used to say cant wait till they grow up. now my hubbie and i realize how quiet our life is. we try to keep ourselves busy as possible. weow it really must have been so hard for you to have your daughter so far away and her being sick im sure you had sleepless hours. i want to really thank you for giving me so much support it really helps me. i have never met you but you sound like a sweet person who has such a big heart. bless you and bless your children. and again shelly thank you for being their for me.

Thank you so much for your kind words Shelley. I am glad I stayed on , even tho my son is no longer a recruit. I just wanted to help the Ship 17 folks with the bit of knowledge I gained here. God is good, he does work things for the good.

hi shelley, weow 2 weeks! its been 1 week yesterday if they count the day they arrive. cant wait till we recieve his letter. you are right it does get alittle better. but he is missed. i still havent been able to do anything in his room yet. when i go in their its hard for me. we are a very close family. i miss his calls checking up on me sometimes especially if i didnt come home yet. he would call me and ask where am i? also when the times he would go out to eat where ever he would always bring me something back home even if it was a little thing. how thought he is. i miss that allot getting the atttention from him.
