I think I read somewhere that your son went to Japan. My son is going over there on Dec, 4th. How does he like it and how is the communication?
Sure, we'd be glad to write to Nathan - but do give him the courtesy of knowing that we will be writing to him first. You should frame it in a question of "... do you mind if Bre's parents write to you. They seem to really ......(put what you want to say in there)......and you might wish to have an unbiased place to go to if you have questions and concerns. Also, being your parents we might not be as understanding or appreciative of your situations with you being so far away. Bre's parents have helped us and others out enough that we know they won't violate a confidence and they are very encouraging. When I was very nervous and upset because I wasn't hearing from you and I didn't know what to expect I got nothing but positive encouragement on the phone and in writing from Bre's parents. Your father and I promise to respect whatever you share in confidence with her parents because we know that everyone needs someone else to go for a sounding board and, sometimes, parents are not always the best sounding boards."
Heloisa, take what we've put in quotes above and you and your husband frame a message to Nathan. He has to know that he can talk with someone else on things of concern without fear of it coming back to you and then back to him. An unbiased sounding board is necessary. Especially, we believe, as he is not as happy as he may have expected and so it will require tender encouragement for him to hang tough and do the best job, which would show the Navy he is committed to doing an excellent job at whatever is asked of him (It's scriptural as you will no doubt remember). By faith, the two years will go fast enough and he will at least learn from and enjoy his current position. He needs to look upon it as an entry level position and the stepping stone in the promotion to higher positions in the intermediate and long-term future.
By the way, what is your husband's name? It's kind of strange calling you two as Heloisa and either Heloisa's husband or Nathan's dad.
Thanks and wishes for a very blessed and happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and loved ones.
Love & God Bless,
Mary-Ellen & Tim
