Profile

About me:
I am the proud Mom of 3 beautiful children Crystal 23, Chris 19 and Cayla 2. I work full time as an accouting clerk and in my spare time we are usually helping out at our church or one of our other charities.
My child's first name:
Chris
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
He joined the Navy. When he called to say he is gradating RPOC!
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was proud, Was relieved, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
That no matter how much you know there is always something new to surprise you.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Well it has been a long time since I have blogged but I am so excited I could burst. I leave in 2 days and 4 hours to head for Groton, CT to see my 2 oldest children. Chris will be graduating from Sub school on Thursday and we will be staying with my oldest daughter and son in law (who is in A School there as well) I have not seen Don since he came home for the New years holiday. I am driving (ugh) with my 2 year old daughter and my 80 year old parents .....what an eventful trip this should be L… Continue

Chicago Airport next stop Groton

Chris just called and he is awaiting hi flight along with 18 others heading for Boston airport on their way to Sub school at Groton. he said they left Great lakes at 2 am and arrived at Ohare at 3 am. He said he had a wonderful breakfast and decided to get his first professional shoe shine (he said they look really nice) while he was sitting there someone passed by, stop to say thank you and paid for his shine. I know I have read about people saying thank you and such on here before but how nice… Continue

Hi Jan,
Was nice hearing from you. I'm sure there are more PA moms out there but maybe they are just not aware of this site. As I watch the new members list grow very few seem to be from PA. I think the BC group is neat and I plan on staying with it afterwards.
I too enjoy my quiet time and I often find myself reading, replying and commenting on NFM's much later into the night than I should. But I enjoy the time I spend here so much with my new found friends. Hope you have a great week. Kim

Hi Jan, How are you? You welcomed me to the PA Moms group back on 5/15 and then within a few days I never saw the group again. It was like it vanished into thin air.
Just the other day I saw there is a PA Moms group up again but you weren't on the list. I just joined it again. Didn't know if you were aware there is a new group for us gals from PA. It isn't very active from what I have seen but maybe we can work on changing that. How is Chris doing? Have you heard from him? Last I read he was on his way to Groton. My sons are both doing well. I get to talk with my oldest sailor all the time, but the youngest is only just starting his 4th week in BC. Did hear from him, had a call and letter. He sounded fantastic. Drop a line if you get a chance. Like to hear how all is going for you. Kim

Somebody told me it was the number in the email address - but mine was 714 and my actual member number was 63 . . . so that's why I ended up asking Catherine:)!

Hi Jan, If you go to 'my settings' there should be a number down near the bottom that has your number (others have found theirs that way) - of course, I had to be 'different' and mine wasn't right so I asked Catherine and she told me:)! Hope you're having a GOOD day:)!

Hi, yes a big box of Kleenex it will be! :) So, what did your son think of his BC experience, was it as hard as he thought it would be? How long into BC was it before you received a call from him? When did he graduate? What will he be training for now? Thanks alot for stopping by for your response. Look forward to talking with you again soon.

Ok, thanks. I also read somewhere that there is a C school. Do you know how far the schooling goes? Because my son said that after school, he will have 2 weeks vacation, maybe around July. He did not say after A, B or C school...

Thanks for the welcome Jan. This is a such a wonderful site. I guess your son Chris has now arrived at Groton. I wish him the best. My oldest is doing great at Mayport NS...only 3 weeks into his 1st duty station. He's happy and that is what counts. My youngest son is finishing up his 2nd week of BC so still no word from him . I'm anxiosly waiting to hear how he is and what he has to say . Again thanks for the welcome. Have a good weekend.
