Hi Care Bear, Just wanted to check in and see how things were going. I hope you are hearing from Brad and that things are going well. I do hear from Jeff. I haven't gotten any phone calls, which I would prefer, but I do chat with him on Instant Messenger. I just don't like that as well as I can't hear his voice and I can always tell how he is "really" doing by the sound of his voice. He had seemed a bit down, but when I talked to him last night he seemed better. He was getting ready for an inspection for the end of Phase 1. He said that Phase 1 is pretty much like RTC. So maybe the pressure letting up a little is good. I know he is studying a lot and he told me about one test that he did well on. It will be a difficult weekend for all us. 4th of July is a big weekend for our Family. We always have a huge picnic and Jeff always loves being a part of that.. its almost like Christmas. We will miss not having him there this year and I know he will miss it as well. We are having a big "Jeff" celebration however, we will be watching his PIR video and looking at the pictures again of our trip to Chicago. I hope that you are doing well. When does Brad's girlfriend have her PIR? I hope she is doing well also. OK.. I will get back to things here, just wanted to let you know that I was thinking about you and wish you well. Take care and have a great weekend. Let Brad know that the "Moms" are thinking about him and keeping him in our prayers. Maggie....:)

Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate Chip Cake

I have a chocolate, chocolate chip cake that I mail in a rubbermaid (throw away) container that I sent to my son at college for birthdays (Bryan's b-day was at BC so I couldn't send to him there)

1 pkg devils food cake mix
1 pkg (large) instant chocolate pudding
1 1/4 cup water
3 eggs
- Stir together - it will be very thick (kinda like frosting)
Add 1 12-oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips

- Prepare 9 x 13 pan by coating bottom and side with 1-2 tsps cooking oil

Spread batter in pan - bake 350 degrees for 35 minutes or so til center is done (press gently-spring back)

After its completely cool you can use a spatula (egg turner) to loosen and lift it in one piece to put it in the 'take-along' with lid. I would then slide it into a USPS 2-day air box and mail it off. Sometimes he'd share, sometimes not:)!

Thank you for the thoughts, I haven't heard from her so I guess that is good , most of the family have been writing her, so I guess he will have a lot of mail. I try to write daily and send some pictures. i find myself running to the mailbox to see if there is a letter.

You're welcome for the Care Bear! You have certainly cheered me up on numerous occasions . Thanks for the compliment about my page. I don't know how I got the dragonflies to fly. It was in the code, I guess. There is also a way to make them transparent but I'm still working on that. I did figure out that to get them on the whole page, you have to add the code in each section - you know, in the "profile" section then again in the section called "We Are One" on my page. It sure made me feel better to "dress up" my page a bit. hee hee
Hope all is good with Brad. We haven't heard from Steven since last week. I was hoping he'd call this weekend but I guess he's too busy being "loosed from the apron strings", if you know what I mean. :)

Hello! Thank you for the nice Father's Day message. Yes...we had a great visit with David today at Great Lakes. We brought him his laptop and street clothes. We were able to enter the Great Lakes campus and David gave us a tour of the whole area...it is huge. We saw his dorm...the main buildings...there are streams that run through the grounds...the hospital...simply amazing. We went to the USO building where the sailors have a great lounge area with a huge plasma screen...there's a movie theatre. It is a whole huge part of Great Lakes that you can't see at all from the boot camp area. Davids room overlooks the Metro train station and the building where we had our PIR!

Hope all is well with your son and his girlfriend in division 900 and wish your husband a nice Father's Day on my behalf!

I just got a letter today, She misses home , well thats normal, she said they havent started intense training yet , but was watching the other groups, She said fron what she saw it was hard. when can I expect a phone call? I sent her phone cards

We are glad to hear Brad is doing well and is getting into his classes yes i can see they are very ruff. As for Arthur he will finally start classes monday June 16th , they held him back another week due to many were in the class he was suppose to be in . But overall he is excited that he going to finally get into class .. Thanks again for your comment ...
