Profile Information

About me:
My boyfriend Adam left for the Navy in Great Lakes on June 27th and I know nothing about it. I have a brother and a cousin who are in the army, and the rules and criteria are much different than they are in the Navy. He is training to be a construction Seabee? I am very proud of him, yet I know I am going to miss him like crazy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am already anticipating the dreaded 8 weeks of little or no communication because from what I have read it is the same as the army. Adam asks no questions so any help or pointers would really help. Adam and I were great friends in high school and then we stopped talking and moved away from eachother, had other relationships and then he called one night and here we are. I am so very proud of all he is setting out to do and I am optomistic that this will help us communicate better, and hopefully become closer as it has done for so many other people on this sight. Our hearts are in the right place so we should have no problem keeping our relationship strong regardless of the distance. Did anyone else's loved one leave on THursday June 27tb ? Anyone have a loved one going to A-school in Mississippi?
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Adam
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
I was proudest when I heard he was going to persue something that will help him grow as a person, and bring him self satisfaction. I cant wait to see him in his Navy uniform on graduation day.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Needed to learn more about it
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
The educational opportunities they offer in the Navy. Its a never ending school with an abundance of learning opportunities for these men and women to take advantage of.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
This was a maturing experience

Josh left GL April 25 for Panama City and graduated August 15. It is a lot of hard work and classes. He loved it and made some great friends. He is in King's Bay, GA now.

haha, alright i am caught up to speed now, hah! So he swicthed what he was going into to underwater construction? Thats awsome. I know in all of Pete's letters that i get from him in boot camp he tells me how excited he is about being a DIVER. I am beyond thrilled, because he wont be in Iraq shooting, i dont know if i'd be able to be calm, lol.

That would be great if he got shipped to GL. He may have to go throw Pre-Dive School. i think its a 6 week program until regular dive school in FL. If he does do that in GL then he would still be going to FL in January. Does he have his cell phoe with him so you can just call him? I assume he'd have his cell where he is, right?

Im still confunssed, haha. So your BF graduated from boot camp and then went to A-School in Mississippi for what? Was was his A-School in Mississippi for? was he undecided? All I know is tha tPete is graduating from boot camp and then stays in GL for Pre-Dive school for I THINK 6 weeks and then goes doewn to regular A-School in Florida. Did your bf have his cell and computer in Mississippi? There is no reason why they cannot have the phones. I know that they are allowed so don't worry.

Also if your BF does go to GL for Pre-Dive A School he will be home for Christmas, you wont have to fly to see him!! ALL GL A-Schools go under stand down fro 12/9-1/4

HOw was his a-School in Mississippi? I thought that all pre-dive schools were in GL. The anvy confusses me. Pete said somthig about underwater welding, so that's probably the same. When he graduates from Pre-Dive School in GL and moves down to Dive-School it is also in Panama

Hi Jackie. What school is your BF in right now? You said that he gradutaes tomorrow from A-School but then you said he starts A-School in January, haha im confused. Pete Graduates boot camp on 12/5 and goes to pre-dive school in GL first (is this the school you are talking about?) I think pre-dive school is 6 weeks, is that right? Did your BF have his phone in this school? Because Pete said hes allowed to have his cell and computer in A-School. Don't worry they wont not let them. where did you hear that from? I think that is false. But i believe Pete said its for almost 10 months. Pete wont start actually Dive School in Panama until he finishes pre-dive school first, which wont be until February i think.

If your BF is just graduating from Pre-Dive school, give me all the info you have!! haha, i cant find anyone

Thanks Jackie for the information. Hang in there and be very proud of your boyfriend. I married my sailor and have been together for 22 years and now my oldest son is in boot camp. It certainly makes you a stronger person than you ever think you could be. Stay tough, write/email your sailor alot and re-assure him you are there and you will do just fine. Hang in there it was the experience of a life time and I regret nothing. *S*

Hey Jackie welcome to our group. How long has your sailor been in Biloxi, MS?

"A" School privileges vary from school to school. If you haven't done so, visit the Moms of "A" School Sailors site. Many of the comments provide information related to liberty and how soon. Your sailor should know the rules by now concerning the various privileges they receive as they progress through A School.
