Tina, My grandaughter is in the same div 242 ship 13, Command is really pushing it to the wire but I suppose they have been rushed since they have pushed these groups through so fast. My reservations have to be canceled on the 1st but I am not worried becuase my granddaughter is strong and gun hoe. My daughter inlaw who was in the Navy also said they don't leave anyone behind unless you have been somone that just has not tried at all to do well. So one great big YAAAAA!!! for are gilrs.

Hi Tina! Glad you got to talk to Christa today. Heather called me last Friday and said 241 was doing Gas Chamber Wed also. I know 241 & 242 do a lot together, so I am guessing Battleships will be the same for her too. Boy, they are really pushing our DIV so close to the last minute! Hope all goes well for both Divisions! Cheers! Denise

Son't know where your daughter is stationed for A School. My son is at Great Lakes A School. We mailed his cell phone to him the first week...it sat in the mail room for a week before he could manage to pick it up due to scheduling conflicts. There is just one mail pickup in his area at Great Lakes and the hours are limited. In bootcamp they hand-delivered the mail each day to the recruits --- that is not the case. We had also mailed our son some contact lenses that he never did receive. For this reason, we decided to hand-deliver his laptop instead of relying on the mail! Be sure to insure whatever you ship to A School!

Also, I chose this hotel to be a little further away from all the traffic of the base, if that's possible. The hotel is 12 miles from the base, and 18 miles from O'Hare airport if that helps anyone.

Hey Tina,
I called around to several hotels (after paying over $1000.00 for 3 airline tickets, but that's another story :0 ), and these hotels were telling me $79.95 a night, until I asked how much was the total cost with tax included. Then it came to $89.00 even. This message will take 2 entrys it's so long. Anyway, I called Homewood Suites, the TOTAL charge per night there is $99.00. It's like a little apartment. A king size bed in a seperate room, a frontroom, a small kitchen with a 2 burner stove, a microwave, frig, T.V. free internet access, pool, hot tub, free hot breakfast every morning. If your family is like mine, the breakfast alone will save you $30.-$40.00 a day. If you need the info, give me a shout. The have 2 bedrooms also, but they are $159.00 a night.

Thanks Tina for the info! The only other hotel that i had found close in price range was The Ramada Inn which i had looked at on Friday. I was hoping to hear from Erin about liberty time for that weekend. I don't want to wait much longer before booking something.

I recieved a letter from Katie today, but no grad pack yet. Maybe tommarow? I still haven't booked our flights, but I will do that before the day is over. I keep hoping the prices will go down, but that's just wishfull thinking. I don't know anything about 4th of July activities planned. Please, do tell.

Hi Tina,

Thanks for your message. I think we're going to book flights tomorrow. We can't wait any longer. Mom told me last night that the seats were selling out. She's holding two different sets of seats for us today. I just wish our son had called to be sure all is on schedule for him.

Hey Tina,
When Katie called(Monday night), she said the entire Division had passed their first test as a group, so they all got to call home. They week before, Katie had called, so homesick that she wanted to come home, but she had called because the Navy had lost her paperwork and I had to fax all her stuff to her. When she called Monday, she sounded so much better, happier. She said they (the division) is working good together now, and the RDC's are easing up on them. I hope you get your phone call soon.

Tina,
I just read your post about missing Christa's call and my heart nearly broke for you. Jamie's stepmom nearly missed his call too. As soon as I heard his voice on my phone, I got my other son to call his dad/stepmom and my daughter to tell them to be prepared. His stepmom was at dinner so she layed her phone on the table so she wouldn't miss the call. The phone never rang, but she suddenly had a voicemail notification. It was Jamie! He said he was going to try to call his sister then call them back. They managed to connect on the second try!
Hang in there, she'll call again.
