About me:: I have been a single parent for the last 18 years. I am from a small town in NE Texas. My middle child is stationed at Kings Bay and I just sent my youngest son to boot camp.

I was the proudest of my child when:: When he is just being himself. He is a loving and caring young man.

As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:: This is my second son to go - I am trying to deal with the seperation anxiety and the lonelyness.

At 11:55pm on July 29, 2008, Lydia said…: Alex liked the beach in Jacksonville for sure. He is going to be on the U.S.S. Rhode Island. He is busy re-qualifying on this reactor. Hard to believe he will be running it soon. He will be leaving soon for his first outting. He said he may be home for Christmas. I hope so. I havent seen him since January when he graduated from South Carolina power school.

Everytime I think about Brian being away I loose it. Yesterday being the 4th of July was difficult. When we were at the parade...everytime I saw a navy flag or heard a patriotic song I would loose it. Thank god I have my husband...he's been a great support for me. I have not heard from Brian at all..and that makes it difficult too. I constantly worry about him. Try to hang tough. I know its hard..but we have to be strong for our sailors. They need us to be. They will draw their strength from us. Take care...Nancy
