David whose PIR is 6/6 is also going to Penscola for A school--thanks for the info about it which I'll pass on...
Our son David's PIR was this past Friday 5/23. He was in the Color Guard holding the POW flag in his own ceremony. David starts A Schoo Hospital Corpsman in a week and a half. He left the boot camp yesterday and moved into the Great Lakes section for A School yesterday. He has a dorm room with another sailor...they share one bath with four boys...movie theatre...bowling alley...and Lake Michigan beach!
Dave is going to A school in Pensacola and will be training as an Aviation technician--he eventually wants to fly but has to finish 2 more years of college and go back to school for his pilots license--I wish I knew more about the career paths!!!! Where is Tyler going to A school and what program?
They have told us that Dave's A school will last from 15 to 26 weeks depending on which branch of Aviation Tech he chooses. I think if he gets into the Aircrew program which is what he wants (please God!) it will be more like 26 weeks or 6 months.
He's a beach bum at heart--he's been a lifeguard for the last 7 summers, and can't wait to get to FL. I think he's under the illusion that he's going to be basking on the beach in between classes.... boy is he in for a rude awakening! That would be great for Chris and Dave to meet so they'll know eachother before they head off to FL. Since we're all staying at the Navy Lodge we should be able to!
