Ginnie, my name is Brenda and my family and I are from McKinney, Texas, our son Jimbo just left last week for Boot Camp, so I'm new to the Navy Moms. But I thought it was really nice to have someone from the same home town, even though McKinney is pretty big. I wonder if our sons new each other in School? My son Jimbo graduated from McKinney North in 2007. I have two other sons who live here as well, but they have been out of School for a long time, Jimbo is a lot younger then the older two boys. Well, nice to meet you and hope to talk to you soon. Brenda Gilmore

Justin had to give them his top 2 choices, one in the states and one overseas. He put Florida #1and #2 Japan. He put to be on a destroyer for a ship. I sure hope he doesn't get Japan that's so far away.I could go to Florida and visit, Japan would be much harder.I hope Alan likes his ship, Justin is ready to get to his duty station. He almost changed his job, he is a little bored. But I told him he will be done soon enough.how long is alan out to sea? Does he like the Navy so far? Justin still loved bootcamp the best.I guess he does well with structure.

Hi Ginnie - After A school they get to choose by rating the available posts. They had 3 choices, Japan, Norfolk VA, S and WA. He got his first choice, Bremerton WA. He got to his ship on Wednesday, they left San Diego today. We won't hear from him until he's back in port, they can't use cell phones or their own internet. I guess they can call with phone cards or use the ship's internet, but they have to sign up for it. I hope Justin gets assigned somewhere close enough for you to visit when he is in port. Josh got San Diego so Donna and family will go often, I'm sure.

Alan's doing fine. He finished A school and was home on leave. He reported to WA in 10/25. His ship is out to sea, so he was on hold. They flew him and some other sailors to San Diego, where he is now on board. They will be leaving there and headed back to WA. My brother and a close friend live up there so he was able to go out with them while he was on hold. He likes his ship and his quarters. We're hoping to go up to WA before he goes out to sea again. How was China? Was it a business trip or vacation? Will Justin be home for Thanksgiving? Does he have his assignment yet?

Hi Ginnie!! Great to hear from you. I was wondering how you made out with the hurricane?
I am glad to hear you will have a new computer! I am not on too often lately because we were entertaing my cousin from Germany, who is returning for my Birthday before she goes back home. (She and her hubby are visiting friends in CT.)
Any way sounds like Justin is doing well. That is good new. Hope you are doing well also. :)

I know what you mean about the computers. Christmas' are usually when we upgrade too, not this year though. Wow. I didn't realize Justing was still in GL. Is he still on the RTC base or next door? What has he been doing since PIR? Morgan is still in GL also. He's in a-school next door. He's in his third week. Sounds like he'll graduate around the 19th or 20th of Dec. I'm not sure if he'll be home for Christmas though. If he gets FMF, he's talking about starting immediately, then come home before he gets deployed. I didn't realize Kentucky was affected by Ike either. I don't remember ever hearing about them being affected. Keep in touch!

Hi Ginnie...love your pictures. How is Justin doing? Is he enjoying life after BC? How are you doing? In reading Vickie's comment, were you close to hurricane Ike or did you get all the rain? Hope everything is going well for you and your family.

I'm glad you are safe. Alan hasn't started school yet either. He is kind of bored also, but he has duty and had an overnight liberty a couple weeks ago. His only complaint is that when he has duty his relief is late so he misses dinner. He called during dinner last night and he was so hungry he said that he was ready to come home. First time since bootcamp! I bought a webcam so he was able to watch my husband and the neighbors change the engine on his mustang. Keep in touch!

hi Ginnie,
Have you been to the A School moms page yet? There is one for the Great Lakes A school as well as the one for Josh in Pensacola. How is Justin doing? Has he started his A school yet? Josh was trying to tell everyone that he hadn't started yet because he wanted to surprise us when he was done but we figured it out. I sent him his phone and some other things. He wanted them overnight but when I went to send them it was about $140 to send them so needless to say I sent them ground. How is China or was if you were not able to access the internet? Take care and talk with you soon.
