I am a registered dietitian and I work with people who have food sensitivity related illness such as IBS, migraine, fibromyalgia, eczema, etc.
My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Michael
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
My son will be leaving for BUDS in August, so this is all new to me. I have always been proud of my son, and know he will be both an asset and a blessing to the Navy, his peers and his country.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was proud, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
My son is leaving for bootcamp/special forces in August, so I will be learning quite a bit in the future!
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer
Hi Pam! Ship 14 Div 859.... is that the same division as your son? Graduation is 10/17...... I'm supposed to be in Chicago that NEXT weekend! If he graduates the 17th I'm wondering if he gets weekends off after that if he is in Pre-Buds...... He has written once around the 3rd, and called right about that time too, so hopefully I'll get another letter soon. His recruiter told me he passed his SEAL PST on the 3rd , so he's right on track. I'm so glad you got to hear from your son and that he's doing well!
Is your son's graduation the 17th too?
So have you found out his ship and stuff yet? I got a really good letter this week. It was really encouraging, am hoping for a phone call this weekend hopefully!! Hope you are doing good!!
Hi Pam! Yeah!!! I'm glad your son is having a good experience. When did he leave? Michael left Tuesday and called Tuesday from the Chicago airport so I know he made it safely. He's not too much of a writer but I sent him with some stamped envelopes so we'll see :) I need to call the recruiter to find out what ship/division he's in....
Got my first letter from Dre!!!! So exciting. He sounded good. they said they couldn't do any PT until they got another medical. So he is looking forward to working out again. He also had to get two wisdom teeth out. He sounded good and said the instructors were not too hard, pretty cool! Have you heard from Michael yet?
The lab I work with that does food sensitivity testing is in Riviera Beach and I understand that's close to where you are! I know you had some heavy rain recently so hopefully that's all passed over now. THanks for keeping posted on the Seals stuff, but I think that technically, they can't require them to take their facebook down if they don't have access to a computer! Many of them won't make it to BUDS so I'm not sure that makes a lot of sense at the moment....... BUT, I'm all for keeping our kids safe so I'll definitely begin watching what I post...... thanks!
I am in West Palm Beach Florida now. I got your name off the seals group. - I heard from admin that the Seals are sending that down but that she will check into that further. I said, he isn't a seal yet, so why now? so they are going to let me know...
I think my son won't pull out unless he's dead first either. I watched him wrestle for many years and he's like a bulldog... never gives up. That's kind of scary that doctors are on standby taking their vitals often...... I guess scary and comforting at the same time.....
(I used to live in Irving TX when I was 1st - 3rd grade... hahaha I don't remember alot about it except we had 75 trees in our yard, we had a creek in the back, fire ants, and they were just building some sports stadium down the road from our sub... hahaha
Ya, I found our from his recruiter. He should have his address already. The "ship" is really just the name for his barracks. It used to be that they went on right out to California after BC (bootcamp) but they just started putting all the special ops guys together in boot camp and doing this pre buds in Chicago before they start buds to get more guys to pass buds. There just isn't enough Seals but they can't compomise their standards to get more. So they are trying to train them better so more of them last and don't quit. my son said the only way he won't make it is if they pull him out dead. He said he will never quit.... that definitely didn't make me feel better... I love this site as well. it has prepared me for what is to come...!
Hi Pam Michele! I commented on your page, but will also add comment here.... my son called from the Chicago airport at 10 p.m. to let us know he had arrived safely. He flew from Dallas to Houston to Chicago so was able to get sleep on the plane. Call his recruiter to find out about leave. My understanding is that he has to ask for it. When did you find out what ship/division he's in? I guess I can call the recruiter and find out..... so Pre-BUDS is in Chicago? I think my son thought he would be going straight to San Diego from bootcamp but it's looking like that's wrong....
What a great site this is. I find out so much information from it! It sounds like it's relatively new (over 1 year or so?)
