About me:
I am a proud mom of a 19 year old who joined the Navy ....YAY!!!!!!!!!!
My child's first name:
Chris
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
most recently has to be the day graduated HS, and the day he swore in .
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was proud, Was relieved, Encouraged him/her
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:

Happy Father's Day

Well as I am sitting here watching HSM2 (High School Musical 2) for the 100th thousandth time. Remember I also have a 6 year old. I am thinking about all the things that I wanted when I was a little girl and how I wanted to be a daddy's little girl like she is. Then I remember that while my father wasn't the greatest role model (my parents divorced when I was 6) I had others in my family who were willing to step in and fulfill the role. Summer visits to my grandparents in beautiful Puerto Rico.… Continue

Response to Venting & Pensive

Howdy All! Firstly, let me say thank you to all who have left a response to my Venting and Pensive blog. A special thanks to you LynnDear. I didn't mean to "sound so sad." It was one of those days that I just needed to vent and say what was in my heart. For the most part I am a very strong lady and tend to really keep things inside, but at times when it comes to the kids & grandbaby, some things just cut me to the core. My previous blog just happened to be one of those times. I love my son,… Continue

Pensive and just venting...

Hola all! First I wanted to say thanks for all the replies and advise etc. It is now 11:30pm and I am worried that my son is losing focus on becoming a Sailor. He divides his time between home and his girlfriend's house. At first I thought he was done with her. But I guess not. She isn't really the best influence on him and although he likes to think he's an adult, when he's around certain people, he doesn't always exercise the best judgment. Well as you know, he's DEP until Sept. and I feel as… Continue

What a Monday!

Hola All, hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was good, played with my daughter (6) and grandson (9 months). It rained on Saturday but was beautiful on Sunday. However, didn't take advantage of the weather was a virtual coach potato after grandbaby left. My son took his sister to the park and I kind of vegged. It's been awhile since I have done that so it was pretty nice. Although alot on my mind with my son not leaving for b/c date being so far away. I started a discussion about general mom… Continue

Re: Pensive and Venting: Jaqueline, I'm sorry to tell you that you have a strong-willed child. I also have one of those. I never thought that she would make it into the Navy after 8 months in the DEP program with very negative influences. When the time rolled around, she stepped up to the plate. I shed many many tears over those 8 months, but I kept telling her...look, this is how you get out on your own...the Navy. This is how you get away from me and have your own money and a place to live. Something snapped when it was time to go. Maybe she saw that dead end street, and was intrigued by her new adventure. I prayed so much!!!!! Guess what...the first week of boot camp, she sent a letter telling me how much she loves and appreciates me, so hang in there and keep reminding him how his friends/girlfriend will end up without a future and how you won't support his lifestyle. Tell him that you raised him to be a better person. You don't think he is listening but...nagging does get you somewhere. They DO listen!!!
