My son graduated boot camp on June 6, 2008! There is nothing like the feeling of holding him again after 8 weeks! Dustin is my only son. I do have 2 step-sons and a wonderful husband that loves me!

My son/daughter is:

I was the proudest of my child when:
He told me that he went to check out the branches of service and went to the Navy first and no place else! He made the decision on his own.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was proud
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
It is time to let him grow up and cut the ties.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

From Dustin - "I finally made it!!!"

Hi everyone!! This is Dustin! I just wanna thank everyone for supporting me, as well as getting my mom through these past 9 weeks. PROUD PARENT OF A SAILOR!!

Hi there! I just wanted to share with every one that I got a call from Dustin this afternoon and when I answered the phone I was recited the Sailors Creed! He is officially an United States Sailor!!! I am so proud of him. I got to talk to him for 41 minutes. He doesn't know if he is a grad-n-go yet or if he will stay in GL or go to Pensecola as originally told. I sure hope he goes to Pensecola!!! 2nd Phone Call

Hi there! I got my 2nd phone call from Dustin yesterday! He is still sick!!! He did say that everyone got another penicillan shot yesterday and it didn't hurt as bad as the first time. He wasn't feeling well at all. Said he was dizzy and had been throwing up the day before. :( He told them that he wanted to stay on full training because he didn't want to miss anything and be put behind. He's such a trooper!!! I got my 1st phone call!!!!!!

I just wanted to share that Dustin called me this afternoon. I was just reading his letters to my husband that I had received in the mail today along with the graduation packet and my cell phone rang. I thought it was my friend Janice returning my call from earlier but it was area code 847. I thought for a minute and realized it was Dustin!!! I answered the phone and he said "HI MOM"! I received my 1st letter!!!

I received my first letter from Dustin yesterday! After stalking the mailman for days it finally paid off. He made a special trip by my house just to give me my mail with my letter in it!!! I was so excited I yelled "I got a letter" while in the driveway and on the phone with my sister!! It was 4 pages long! I couldn't believe it!! He says "Boot camp isn't that bad. Is he still in GL? I heard even when some of the guys get to Pensacola the schools are behind. I'm sure Dustin is not to pleased either and ready to move on.

I will continue to pray. Maybe it's just stress. It effects people in some many different ways.

Praying for you. Let me know what you find out. Sean is doing great. Classes started last week and was very excited to start getting into the swing of things. He'll be there til December, home for christmas and then on to his 1st duty station.

THat is such a bummer that the air fare is so high to go to Great Lakes now! I hate that for you! Maybe, when he gets to Pensacola, you can drive up there to see him. How far did you say it was from you? Weird, you're in Fla and I'm in Alabama and I'm closer to Pensacola than you are! HAHA! When does he think he might be down in Pensacola? Pat seems happy now, wants his fishing tackle when we come down! He also ordered a laptop so that's good, too. I've been so busy I haven't had too much time to dwell on Pat being gone, plus I talk to him almost every day. It's a LOT better than when he was in BOOT CAMP and I couldn't talk to him!!! I hope you can see Dustin soon! None of us really had much time after Boot camp to hang with them!!! It will be great in Pensacola b/c he is off and he can stay all day with us! Natalie/Katie are just beside themselves excited! hugs
