Profile

About me:
My name is Kimberly and I have four children. The oldest is Nicole (24) and she is currently working on her doctoral degree in Forensic Psychology. Next is Chris(20) who is working on enlisting in the Army! Bryan is 19 and attending A school in Great Lakes! Finally there is Katie(15) who is a freshman in high school aspiring to be a doctor! I have a master's degree in Sociology and am currently finishing up a master's in Marital and Family Therapy. I run a family resource center at a local high school where I connect families with resources in the community.
My child's first name:
Bryan
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
I have been proud of Bryan all of his life. He is a great kid with a lot to give to the world! One of my most favorite moments in Bryan's life was when I saw him walk through the Pass In Review Hall and he was officially declared a Sailor in the United States Navy! Breath taking experience, one like no other. It was like watching the young boy I once knew grow into the man I always knew he would become.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Needed to learn more about it
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
One of the most important things I have learned is that these young people need to be supported throughout the process and we as parents need to stay connected to one another.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made

My wonderful Ride at PIR 4-25-08

This has been a wonderful ride with Bryan! Words cannot describe how proud of him I truly am. Bryan graduated from boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois on Friday, April 25, 2008. His Father, Sister Nicole, and myself were there when Bryan proudly walked in through the Pass In Review Hall and was officially declared a Sailor in the United States Navy. I can tell you that when the ceremony ended and they announced, sailors at ease...I flew off the bleachers and grabbed Bryan and held on for dear lif… Continue
