About me:
I have been married for 22 years, have 4 children (1 of which just started boot camp) live in Terrell, TX for the last 15 years.

Stephanie
My son/daughter is:

I was the proudest of my child when:
She left. She was very brave and didn't seem scared.
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Needed to learn more about it
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
Her medical and dental are covered!!!
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
This was a maturing experience

Now That She Has Graduated!!!

I wanted to put an ad in the paper with her picture announcing her graduation but I have no idea what her title is after graduation. Do any of you know what they are called. What a beautiful and moving ceremony graduation is. I can't wait to see the video. The relief I feel knowing she is done with bootcamp and off to school is tremendous. Hearing from her daily now is pure joy. She is getting ready for her first liberty weekend and I am excited (and nervous) for her. Yea! She did it!!!!

I Can Finally Relax

We finally received a letter from Stephanie last week. She said she did not have quarters to call home. No one said anything about needing quarters! We moms should put together a "Rookie Handbook" to help the parents along. Then we need to give them to the recruiters to pass out. Anyway, I was so very glad to hear from her. She said it was snowing when she got there. (That's a big deal to those of us from Texas!) Her first shower was interupted by a fire drill so they had to get dressed wet and… Continue

Mom's First Week Without Her Kid

I honestly didn't think it would hit me so hard. The last week went by so fast. Everything was like "This is the last time she will do this. This is her last night in her own bed. Her last time to go to church with us for while." Sunday at church Fr. Michael gave Stephanie a special blessing during Mass. I started crying and could not stop. A lot of our friends came up to her after Mass and hugged us both and told Stephanie how proud they were of her. I am very proud of her but hate that she has… Continue

Congratulations to you and your new Sailor! My son's PIR was 6/13. At "A" school now he goes by SA Last name , 1st name. He's an E2 Seaman Apprentice. Once they grad school they get their rate assigned to thier name. Hope this helps.

Are you in NC? If so come and join us in the NC moms group. Also check into joining the A school moms group.

Thanks for the congrats! :) Since Steven had his PIR, I feel like the weight of the world is off my shoulders. He leaves for Charleston (A school) tomorrow. Once there, he can have his cell phone, computer, etc. Aaahhh! Hang in there Mom! It will be over before you know it. We're cheering (and praying) for you all the way!! :) Keep in touch about how you're doing.
Hugs from Houston

Hey Tammy. When did Stephanie leave for basis? My son Dustin left of April 21st and we received the 1 minute phone call of I am here on Wed. morning the 23rd @ 1:00 am...but it was great hearing his voice. Then to our surprise he called us Sunday evening on April 27th. This website is really great and it will help you alot. If you have any questions just ask and someone will surely be able to answer them. Take care.

Stephanie is beautiful & I do see what you mean about them looking alike:)) Did she have to cut her hair before she left. I think the Navy may have recently stopped requiring females to cut their hair??? Ashley was horrified when they cut hers!!!
