Event Description

Navy Week is coming to New Orleans from November 2nd through the 8th!

For those of you that are not sure what Navy Weeks are, they consists of a series of events designed to tell the Navy story: what the Navy does, why it’s important, and what opportunities exist in today’s Navy.

New Orleans Navy Week 2009 is packed with events demonstrating the mission of the Navy and our proud heritage. These events could include Navy Band performances, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Dive Tank, SEAL Accelerator, SEAL Fitness Challenge, Blue Angels F/A-18 Flight Simulator, Accelerate Your Life Experience (AYLE) Simulator and Navy Theme-Wrapped Suburban all intent to give the public a personal look at the men and women of the Navy serving throughout the world in different roles.

Their will be a Flag Officer as our spokesperson. In addition to the Admiral, there could be guest appearances from a namesake crew,Navy Band and other outstanding local Sailors.

N4M is not sponsoring this event, but if you're interested in coordinating something special with fellow N4M members, here's some Do's and Don'ts to keep in mind :)

DO get involved with Navy Weeks.

- You are encouraged to participate in Navy Week activities when appropriate.

- If you want to get involved with the Navy coordinators, your group should appoint a "spokesperson" to coordinate with the Navy. (This will alleviate multiple calls on the same topic.). The Navy Week points of contact can be found on www.navyweek.org. Go to the schedule and click on the city that you are interest in. The point of contact for that city's Navy Week will be listed.

DO NOT independently contact the flag officers or VIP participants involved in your town's Navy Week, but do work through the appointed Navy Week points of contact listed on www.navyweek.org

Ok, work schedule has been received. I'm available all day on Saturday, 11/7. I've looked around the Navy Week website, but can't seem to find a place to "sign up" to help. Do we have a "spokesperson" who will be acting as the coordinator of this event? Has anyone been in touch with the point of contact? Thanks!

I might be able to do this however, there are two situations right now. (1) I live in Long Beach Mississippi and (2) I just received a jury summons for that week so I do not know if I will be used as a juror or not.

I hope to attend. I'm waiting to get my work schedule for that week. As soon as I know something, I'll post my availability.

I'd love to participate --- my schedule is such that I may be available for more than one event. Please advise your needs. Donna

I'm just across the river, as soon as they start posting more information on the physical/ outdoor activities I'll get time off from work and would be more than happy to spend most of the dsy to help out doing whatever. Have a friend wanting to tag alone, she is in a wheelchair (good friend of mine and my sailor), would she be able to help as well?
