Say Hello To Your Two New N4M Admins!

Hello everyone!

It's been a little over a year since I took over as admin of this community. Hard to believe we had less than 9,000 members then - we have over three times that amount today!

I've had a wonderful experience, but alas, this my last day as your admin. I'll be moving on to new responsibilities, but I'm leaving the community in the hands of two capable ladies - Colleen and Elizabeth.

They've been training with me over the past few weeks and starting this afternoon, you'll notice t… Continue

Who is lemonelephant and why is she telling us to change our settings to private or friends only. She seems to be making her way around with this one message and it all seems a bit wierd. Is there any reason to be concerned

Is there any way to get a video on here? On RFD-TV, there was an excellent documentary on Texas Country Reporter about Carlton A. Eddy-- "Sketch". I think he's from Corpus Christi. His dad, himself and his son are Navy. He paints airplanes on aircraft carriers and his son (I believe on USS Abraham LIncoln) received letters with envelopes painted with planes and carriers. He wanted to be a pilot himself but wore glasses. Anyhow, they stretched that documentary out and it was absolutely awesome.

I have really appreciated this site since my son left for bootcamp in November of 2009. I have a question. During bootcamp, the petty officer in charge of my son's division went on this site, found the group we were communicating with and posed as a navy mom. He gave a couple of the guys a hard time. I never knew what for because people were very discreet, not using full names etc. Anyway, now that our sons are in pre/buds, we don't want this to happen again but want to be able to use this site to support each other. I formed a group and made it private, but the posts still appear on my page. Will someone training my son at pre/buds or bud/s be able to gain access to this? Thanks for your help, Beth (my3sons)

I would like to express both my posiive and not so positive experiences with this site. My son recently graduated from boot camp. The support I received from my fellow N4M sisters are what got me through 8 very tough weeks. We set up a group for our Division and we Mom's were growing very close. Then a son wrote to his Mom and explained the his RDC came into the Ship and asked "who is Jody?" and called him into his office. The RDC went on to tell this recruit EVERYTHING his Mom had written including about surprising the recruit by bringing his dog up for PIR. We all knew that the site would/could be monitored but to have the RDC go back and report our private feelings that we were sharing with other Mom's to help us get through this tough time made us feel extremely violated!! It's too late for our group but I would hope that maybe you could encourage those in charge at RTC to tell RDC that sharing information they read on this site with the recruits is just not right. The purpose of this site is suppose to be for support but after this incident none of us felt comfortable coming to the site and talking any more. However, I do know that were it not for this site and talking to other Mom's and knowing they were experiencing the same feelings that I was, I think I would have had a nervous breakdown. Please help future Mom's of recruits!!

I sent a report first which may not have been appropriate so I apologize for that. I was just trying to get a message to you and ask if you would consider deleting old groups that had no activity for some period of time? I was trying to browse through them to see which ones I might want to join but there are 1,120 now and it's just too many to look through. Some of them hadn't any activity since way back into last year and even into 2008.
