While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I too failed the PFA in boot camp. Looks like the shoe IS on the other foot. And really, LadyPig, is that how you talk to two Navy vets and an active duty member of the Navy? We have all been there, done that, and aren't dishing out the rainbows and unicorns. That doesn't make us assholes, that makes us sailors who know the ropes and are willing to tell the straight truth. That too is support, although it isn't as sweet as having a bunch of people letting you sob on their shoulders about the Big Bad Navy.
(I didn't even think I was particularly bitchy this time...)
Craig has some very good advice, very solid, backed up with Navy regulations.
Ah, the swim. Too bad the pool in Yokosuka was only open 3 months a year when I was struggling. I barely made my runs as I got older, and outdoor exercise in Japan was killer. I think the base facilities may be much better these days.

you have known that for years...that's what "brothers & sisters" do. We can dog each other out, but if someone else does, they have had it... Totally agree sister, it isn't all about sugarcoating things. It's telling the truth, and trying to solve a problem with the actual Navy rules and regulations. Now get back to the "ship", and buff those floors!
btw:, when I said "sit on my face", it was a figure of speech. You can get off now....

Well sence this post has taken such a postive spin...I will put out some info. If someone doesn't make it though FIT they get kicked out of the Navy, and are told while there that they can try again in 6 months which yes they can...but very few to any ever get back in the USN or any other branch of service due to being kicked out of the Navy. Also they are NOT Vets as they did not finish bootcamp, they do NOT get the GI Bill, they do NOT get any VA benfits!
FYI...I am stationed up in Great Lakes :~}

It used to be...but the USN is saving money by cutting them loose after a certain amount of time now. The USN is overmanned, and not everyone is able to join like years ago....If I tried to join now I would be DQ due to my allergies alone.

Angie - I totally agree with you. So many recruits are told they can reapply in 6 months, which is a totally true statement, you can. What they don't them is you can request anything in the Navy, Heck, you can request to become the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) but like the reapply, it just will never happen. So many recruits thinks it's easy. It's not. It rarely, if ever, happens. But, to shut these recruits up, they will tell them they can. I sure wished they would tell them the odds.
This same story goes with getting your discharged up graded. They tell these sailors, wait for 6 months and request it to be upgraded. I just wished these sailors would see the ones that are changed. It's like 1 in 10,000. I just wished they'd look here and see the minimum results:
