I can't stop thinking about him and worrying about him.  I start tearing up at the drop of a hat.  I have been reading everything I can about what is happening to him each day.  Some of it has comforted me some of it has worried me a little. I just hate not being able to call him or talk to him.  Eight weeks seems like such a long time right now..

Hi Trandles, my son left on the 7th.  I know how you feel.  maybe our boys will be in the same group.  I love this site, it has helped me out alot the last few days.  I am so glad that his recruiter told me about it.  Yes 8 weeks is too long expecially for the one who are use to talking to their SR everyday.  I keep looking back at his facebook and the picture we took before he left, just so i can talk to him and see his face.

That would be pretty cool.  I will let you know when I find out.  It will probably be a week or two from what I have been reading here.

HI...my son also left on the 8th- although very proud of him... am worried as well..although I have faith in his ability and comittment- still we worry.  what state  are you in?

We are from California.  Maybe our guys will wind up in the same division.

Hey Gail, we are from Louisiana, where are you and trandles from

We are from California.

Really what part,  My husband is from there.  We still have family out in Murrieta, Menifee area.  We were both station in San Diego and our kids were born at the Navy hospital there.  We only movedmacked to louisiana about 11 years ago to help take care of my family.  We went back about 2 years ago for his mothers 65 birthday as a surprise to her.

We are from Fresno. I have been to San Diego a couple of times, but I don't know Murrieta is.

I sometimes I feel like I am drowning here.  My husband just doesn't get why I am so emotional and crying all the time.  Then I get on here and I read all the comments and I don't feel so alone.  I still haven't heard anything but it hasn't even been a week yet so I will try and wait patiently and try not to cry too much.

Wow, you already received your box after three days.  I am still waiting.   I know exactly how you feel, one minute your ok the next your balling.  My son was in DEP for seven month also.  I work in swing shift so after my husband and the two younger ones went off to work and school it was just me and him.  We would hang out, run errands, clean or just sit and talk.  I miss those times so much.  When everyone leaves and I am alone, that is when I cry the most.

I know we will all get through this, I just keep waiting for it to get a little easier.

Trandles,

My son also left on the 8th.  It has been a roller coaster for me also.  The not knowing how he is or how he is doing is the most difficult.  I too have started writing him letters and am finding solace in this site.  As my son said to me before he left, the days will seem like weeks and the weeks will seem like days.  I only didn't realize at the time, although he was talking about for him, that would be how I was feeling also.  I just pray that the 8-9 weeks do end up flying by for us.

I will keep in touch and I'm sure we'll find others who had the same date we did (I already found another today) and hope that we'll get through this as smoothly as possible.  Who would have thought it would be this hard on loved ones (my daughter's been a hot mess with the crying also) atleast, with this site we feel normal knowing we are not the only ones.

Take care and I look forward to keeping in touch.

Dawn

Thank you so much for the encouragement.  This site has been wonderful, reading all the other mom's comments.  I didn't realize this would be so hard either.  It's just the not knowing what is going on and how he is doing.  I have been writing him too, just anxious for that address so I can start sending them.
