Good Morning Everyone,
My son Sam has been in BC for two weeks with a PIR date of 12/4/09. I got to talk to him last week and he sounded great. He was still in processing but expecting to move into his barracks the next day. He was loving it so far.

I am in Merced. Anyone else this far South?

I would like to ask everyone to pray for Petty Officer 3rd Class James R. Layton, 22 and his family, a sailor from Riverbank, CA who was killed in Afghanistan.

Hello everyone,
The past month has been crazy. Two Grandbabies and my Sailor home on leave for ten whole days. Life is grand. LOL! Jeff is back safe on base in GL. I have updated the pictures on my page and hopefully life will start to calm down. I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and staying cool.

How many from the 209 area are going to have any one doing PIR on 8/21? Are you going to the meet and greet on Thursday night

Got a second letter today. YEA. He is doing good, but had to fill 3 cavities. Said hes eating good. Learning alot and very busy. Ironing, polishing, etc.

Hi Navy Moms of 209 Area: My son has been at Boot Camp for 2 1/2 weeks and had one phone call and one letter. I know they are pretty busy right now so we will wait. I havent beat the mail lady, but she knows what we are waiting for. We are so proud of all our kids. We are staying in Waukegan 3 miles from the base, at the Ramada. Meet and greet Thursday night before PIR 8/21. 38 days and waiting.

Good news...heard from Felicia, she is doing well. They ported for a few days and so she had a chance to write and called once!!! She just told me that she made Petty Officer!!! yeah!!!! Can't wait to see her in SD!!!

Oh Laura, I loved PIR. But what I like even better is my son having a cell phone so he can call me up to ask if I can send him some underwear!!! Or picture frames. Or cookies. Believe me, I don't mind one bit that I now get multiple phone calls or text messages whenever he remembers something new. But that grandson of mine...and yes, I can say that now...decided to wait another week before making his grand entrance. Logan Elias was born on my youngest son's 17th birthday! Of course, I just had to give my daughter in law a hard time about it...I did ask her what in the world could she possibly get him for his birthday next year. lol Ain't life grand!!!
