anyone have a sailor close to graduation from a-school?
gonemad Comment by gonemad on November 5, 2009 at 8:10pm
BC is the hardest part. But once he gets to graduation you will be so proud. Its a ver emotional experience. A-school is tough and competitive. But I know with our son we have been amazed at how hard he has worked. He did not work hard in high school but he has worked extemely hard at a-school. The higher their placement at the end of school the better becaus their ranking in class determines the job they get to pick (1st place picks first and down the line). Our son has maintaine a 92 average and he is 4th in his class. He will graduate Dec. 7. Best of luck to your son!

Thank you...my son is only just leaving for boot camp 11-23, so I don't have all the facts yet. Any words of advice?

my sailor graduates from P'cola Dec. 7th. he is hoping for shore duty, we are keeping our fingers cross. It has been a tough class but he has maintained 4th in the class

It all depends on how many and where there are openings for AC once you have completed A-school. Near the end of your schooling and depending on where you finish in your class (the higher your grade the better choices you have) you can pick where you want to go. They may have no ship duty stations and all shore or the other way around. Or some ship and some shore. The better you do, the better chance you have at picking where you want to go but it really depends on what is available at the time you finish.
