Hi All, Josh received his orders yesterday and is going to beautiful El Centro Ca LOL at least it is closer to home and two hours from San Diego. I also got some bad and some good news he was supposed to be home for Christmas and now he doesn't think he will be able to but he thinks he will be coming home in a couple of weeks right after his graduation so he will be able to spend time with my daughter while she is visiting too I will have both my kids here for a week.... I am not going to get my hopes up too much but it looks like it may happen. :) Happy Thanksgiving to All!

Wondering if this is the right group to join...Son is going to Pensacola after boot camp and will be either an AE or an AT...we don't know yet until he completes the basic electronics course, at least that is what I was told. Let me know if this is the right group to join. Joined another one that I thought was right and found out they were for sailors in submarines. Thanks. Robin

Lynn, Our son PIR'd 6/5, then did ATT in GL and had to wait a month after finishing to get to P'Cola. Once there he waited another 3-4 wks. He began AE A school towards the end of September and graduates next Wed 11/25. He just got his next assignment today. He'd like to come home for Christmas if he can on the way to his next duty. The AEs have classes, tests and lab tests. They are in class with Marines and he and a Marine have been trading 1st and 2nd place for a while now.
Yes, you may visit and your sailor can probably be checked out once he phases up again. It's a pain not having a car but I'm glad mine doesn't.

Does anyone have a sailor at or know anything about Minimar, CA?

Well I know that they discourage them from having a vehicle I heard. They do have to phase up again all from the beginning. So its starting from scratch all over again which stinks because they worked so hard to do it the first time. All bases are different I guess that is what my nephew said but the rules in Pensacola are you start from scratch. Yes,you can visit but at first they cannot leave base (maybe with a parent they can) someone else will have to answer for sure. AE school is 3 mos I believe... can't believe I have forgotten all and he is still in but I have been overloaded with lots of other things while he has been there. He told me that the whole place sort of just shuts down during Christmas except for essential personnel so most people get to go home. I guess saves them for keeping track of them all I think. Josh doesn't seem to think school is too hard. Other people may be able to answer that better, quite a few of our moms and wives have first of the class students. My son always had the brains but he lacked the effort part so he just stays in the middle of the group without trying very hard. Used to drive me crazy that he would not want to be first LOL when I know he could! But they all get to where they are going in the end some just get to go to better places LOL The First students get to pick from the orders first. Also there is a website you can go to to get info I'm not sure the address but maybe someone else does but this site seemed more helpful to me. Love these people lots to learn and they are a wealth of knowledge... Kelly

Well....lots! We know that he probably won't class up before Christmas, but we are hoping he will be able to come home; Even though he has phased up in GL, are you saying he has to do that all over again? Can they have vehicles? Can I visit? What is AE school like and how long? Anything you can tell me will be greatly appreciated! Thanks Kelly
