Group with a loved one leaving in the month of December 2009.

Why this group?

This group is only for families with loved ones leaving in December 2009.

I started this group because I want to connect with other Moms that have loved ones leaving in December. The depper group is great, but I wanted a smaller, more intimate group to share thoughts, feelings, emotions and fears with as well as accomplishments, hopes, dreams and goals with. Some place I could make a connection with other Moms going through the same feelings I am at the same time I am.

Hi Philygal...WELCOME...So it seems I just went through this with my oun child..Yes, they are cutting deppers who are not motivated, not within weight standards and not doing what they need to do. So, my daughter Katt was 1 of 3 who should of been discharged for various reasons. hers is because she needs to loose 5 lbs. So, long story short she did not get cut because the other tow deppers were not where they needed to be. 1. Always "whined" (recruiters words not mine) that she was going to miss her friends and family too much, so they discharged her becuase they felt she was not mentally ready. The second girl was very overweight and quite frankly should have been instantly placed on a longer depper program until she was where she needed to be. Katt my daughter bless her heart shows up to all her Dep meetings, met with a recruiter every Mon-Wed-Fri morning to work out and also was part of a boot camp gym for a while. I have her on a striclty protein a water diet until she goes to MEPS. From what I know now..if your son/daughter is slightly overweight they will tape (measure) them to ananlyze their body fat cop. If their body fat is in line they will be sent on...IF they find nothing else. Carole is completely right...they Navy is overmanned and is looking to let loose any one they can for any reason. Just tell your son to be good, eat real clean, LOL I told Katt she couldn't even have bubblegum. I told her if it did not cluck, quack, swim, or moo she was not allowed to eat it.

thanks Carole, I just discussed this with Chris and he finally told me that each recruit office is cutting at least 2 depper leaving in december there are only 3 leaving in december from his office. one male depper never comes to the meetings and one is WAY over weight..he told me he feels confident that he will be the one choosen to leave. He did talk to his commander the other day and was told to stay out of trouble , not get anyone pregnant and not get sick or hurt... OMG this is stressful. I would hate to see him discharged as he threatens to roll over to another branch if he is discharged...thanks for taking time out of your day to talk with me..

I would suggest putting him on Atkins (all protein diet) for a week, He;'ll lose 10 lbs quickly. And I would tell him to cut out the beer completely. The Navy is not playing and they are so full right now, that they don't need anyone.

Well, here's what I know. Just yesterday the Commander in our area called my husband (long story on how we know each other, there is a blog on my page about my son's accident and how we met the Commander) and he told my hubby to be sure Ross was completely ready. He said the Navy is the only branch right now that is able to discriminate. He said just last week a guy was down at MEPS getting ready to ship the next day and they found out he had an ingrown toenail. He did not ship out!!! He also said that if they are over weight, under weight, too tall, too short, have the slightest medical issue they can be discharged for it. Not just delayed, discharged!! I've got my son in bubble wrap, he's not allowed to cut his toenails, or leave the house without proper permission and supervision!! LOL!! We are really being careful with him especially after what happened to him in October (again, read my blogs about "the accident"). I would be VERY careful with his food intake if there is even a slight risk of him being close to the weight limit.

I don't mean to freak you out, but this is what I know, have seen personally, and have been told by a COMMANDER! I believe what he says.

carol, please answer this question for me.there was something written about wait and how it could prent a deper from going to BC.. My son's recruiter just told him to watch his food intake and if he drinks beer to drink lite beer. he has about 4-6 extra lbs on.. he was told he needs to be 186 and he had been hoovering around 190..will this prevent him from going to BC.. I would hate to think all this stress and worry would be for nothing as he would be delaied or even denied enty .. strees is rising... please help.
