Navy For Moms

There seems to be so many of you lately!!! It is wonderful that you will have each other's support while going thru the process together.

Thought I would start this thread so you can at least connect and share stories together. Seems like there is a fair amount of you in Great Lakes and just as many more trying to decide if you can more to Great Lakes.

Hi, I was wondering how long it took for you to get to move up there to be with him.

We've been in GL since January.. Wow what a change! i drove for south Texas up here.. San Antonio to be exact.. it was a Loooong drive. but a good experience anyway.. TX then to Oklahoma.. then Missouri.. then finally Illinois. but all worth it!

We'll be coming up from Houston some time this summer :)

Good idea to start this. My husband just went to boot camp last week. We were thinking we would be done in GL by December but it looks like it could take longer. So i'm new to this can anyone tell me why all the holds and what the realistic time is for him finishing up A school and ATT (what does that stand for?, is it apprenticeship training). Sorry still trying to get used to all this. We will be making the drive from AZ to GL for graduation. There are too many of us to fly unless I can find a smokin deal. 25 hours in the car with 3 kids, doesn't that sound like fun!

Ugh! 25 hours! we had to drive around the same amout but my son was pretty good.. he slept alot so that was a good thing.. but when you pick up your sailor and he takes you to your new house it feels GREAT! My sailor gave me the key and let me open the door to "my new home". Small gesture but it ment alot :)

wow! 25 hours!! thats crazy! i have a 17-19 hour drive from central florida that im not looking forward too, but im sooo ready to be with my sailor!!

camille- school length depends on whether your sailor is an FC or ET, usually FC's get done faster and ETs take longer. My hubby is an ET and he gradauted bootcamp in september and is scheduled to grad A school in June, so theres a sorta time frame you could expect. but time also depends on hold times and such, so it varies greatly,
