Barbara J~ Enjoy every crazy moment with your Sailor!!! You deserve it!!!!! Sooooo Glad he's coming home!!!! Kyle has duty Thanksgiving Day but is coming home for Christmas!! Yeah...He is actually coming into Atlanta and we are going there too for the Christmas Holiday! That's where all the extended family lives. So you are right...we moms will go to extreme lengths to get our family together. But it's totally worth it, isn't it???? :o)

Alli ~ Congrats on your new Sailor! Glad you were able to attend PIR. Best wishes to your daughter too as she joins the USN!

Diane R ~ Have a great time at NAS Whidbey Island!!! I'd tell you to look up our son,Mike, but he'll be flying out of Seattle on Monday morning heading to Georgia for Thanksgiving!

I was supposed to keep it a secret from the rest of the family, but I finally let the cat out of the bag cause it was just getting too difficult to try to invite/coordinate travel plans for various family members - some of whom had not planned to rondevouz at our house for this holiday. But, after a lot of effort, the plans are finally falling into place! I just wish he was flying into Savannah, since that's only an hr from our house. Instead he flies into Atlanta, which means a very long trip up there an back for me ~ but hey I won't complain since he is at least getting to come home this time. It has been three very long years since his last trip to GA. Please pray for one of his sisters who lives in Raleigh NC ~ as we're trying to work around a problem in getting her and her family here for a brief visit on Mon-Tues. They are missionaries in Raleigh and have ministry work to do on Wed and Thurs next week...so cannot be here for Thanksgiving. Right now my "backup plan" is to drive to Raleigh (hopefully not) on Sunday roundtrip is (12 hrs) and pick up her and their two toddlers.....Amazing what efforts Moms will go to in order to get our families together.....or to spend even a little bit of time with our Sailors. Since Mike as last "home in GA" in Aug 2003, he's had another niece and nephew born, and lost both of his grandfathers earlier this year. It will be a whirlwind week, but worth all the effort on everyone's part to be with our Sailor.

Wishing a Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Navy Families and other military families!

I know-I never thought about it being on the ouside of military families, I guess.when our soon was home last weekend, we went out to eat after church Sundayand he was in his dress blues. I was amazed at all the people who stopped by our table to thank him and ask him about the insignia on his uniform-ond lady told him that her grandfather was a Seabee, WWll. He told us that sometimes when he eats out, he goes to pay his bill and he is told it has been taken care of.! I have always had tremendous respect and awe for people in uniform, any branch of the armed forces, but I am so much more aware of all they deserve now.

Wow Allie, I am so glad you ahd a great weekend with your new sailor!! I know what you mean about people thanking our sailors. I have heard of stories of sailors in the airport and people coming up and giving them money for no other reason than to thank them for their freedom. My son said it feels real weird to him because he said " I am only doing my job" This is how they see it they really do not understand the great importance "just their Job" is to the the rest of us!! I could not be prouder of my son and his choice to go into the Navy. I will be even prouder mom once my youngest daughter gets her ship date as she is also joining the Navy. She decided to jopin after seeing her brother at PIR!! She will be getting her ship date 11/30. We are proud that she is following her brother as an HM!!!

Good Morning Everyone :) Yesterday was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, I was very thankful to be a part of it. Gavin is so good, and so happy, and what an amazing transformation. He went in a boy and is now definately a young man. The most amazing thing that we experienced yesterday was all the people that came up to him, shook his hand, and thanked him for his service. WOW :)

Happy weekend to all. I'm happily in NAS Whidbey Island, WA visiting my son and his wife for Thanksgiving! They both look so good. I have much to give thanks for this Thanksgiving. Best to all.

Danielle - my Joey hasn't phased up yet -- he says they are behind on paperwork. He thought it was going to be the first of this week, but not yet!!
