good thing you spelled that word wrong...and lets keep it that way - I don't want them to have any 'blizzrads' any time soon because I doubt they are very rad and in January I have to drive my car up there because that's when I'm moving there!

Yes, Christmas stand down @ GL is 3 am Dec. 18th - 30 days & 12 hours!
Chrissy says about 5,000 sailors will be trying to leave the base all at once. And she hopes there is not a blizzrad.

Yes my daughter is coming home for Christmas and her 19th birthday. She has bought her ticket. Leaves Chicago at 1200 on Dec 18 and flys home Jan 3 at 0600 fro LAX....we're on a count down...:)

Aaron is FC and in limbo for A school. He should start ATT in January.
He said he gets leave December 18th to Jan 2nd.

Hey everyone. I have not been on this page for a while but here goes.
I have been told by several people that Christmas stand down begins on 12/18/09. My sailor is at GL for AECF-ET and that is what they were told.
He is finally in A school. Not sure how they go about booking tickets. But yes, changeable tickets are always best.

He was told, by his instructor, not to book his ticket yet. I guess they will discuss the Christmas leave and tickets next week. I just didn't want him to pay too much for tickets on base if I can get them cheaper online.

And yes, I do realize I need to cut the cord, but we are a very close family and there are times I think I am still connected to my mother. We do things for each other all the time, that is what families do. I know my son will be able to take care of himself, and I know he will make mistakes along the way. But that is how he will learn. As a mom, I still worry about my children and I always will, just as my mother still worries about me. She raised me to be a very responsible and independent woman, and I am very thankful for her. While in bootcamp my son wrote me a letter stating those same thoughts, so I know I raised him right. I couldn't be more proud of him than I am right now!

Let go of your child that is what u do - mom4 sons! I know- easier said then done. He is an adult now and needs to learn to take care of himself. You raised him right, you want him to be a responsible adult. He has a good job in the Navy, so let him book his own tickets. My daughter booked her own tickets!

Sorry to tell you but some sailors (my daughter) has made flight plans. Maybe they are telling them by ships or something...I hate to see rates keep going up and flights filling up...so sorry. I wish they would give the ok and...:)

It's funny you say that Barb, I asked my son about plane tickets too and he said don't worry about it. Our instructor will talk to us about it next week, so stop looking online for prices. Haha! I just had to laugh. So I will let go of these reins and let him get his own tickets then. Controlling moms, what are we gonna do?
