Judy- I guess better way to it is if anyone knows what he will do after his training at "A" and "C" school and then if he were to be deployed what would he be doing? He is going or at VA for IS so Im just wondering if he will be able to use any of the education or skills he learns in a civilian job. He didnt, couldnt get/find a job before he left. He was coing to community college but wanted a university and away from home. So in the Navy he went

Kimbokatbo- he is going for IS. Im wondering what he is going to do after "A" and "C" school though. I mean the kind of job the descriptions are so broad. Like what are the majority of graduates doing for jobs? Does anyone have a clue?
D-Bs Mom- I did just this morning get a call telling me he was getting on a flight bound for VA @ about 0830 then I got a second call about 1730 letting me know he got there and giving me his address and that whan I has a free moment if I could mail his cell phone and laptop. I told him the one stipulation to mailing these items is he has to answer everytime I call or text. He laughed at me. Im already scoping out flights for february.

Hi everyone! It was a beautiful ceremony and even better to see my sailor (of course) it's funny because we got there and the seats downstairs fill very quickly so we had to sit in the bleachers. Well we or I was bewildered with all these sailors that I thought for sure was my son. My 13 year old forgot the binoculars at home so it took a little weeding out but we found him, it was just funny how they are so uniform and alike from a distance. So, I was a bad passenger on the plane or maybe just a crazy mom but toward the end of the flight I turned my phone on and dont you know the minute we stood up to get our carry-ons the phone rings!! mom I passed. What a hectic conversation with the noise and hustle n bustle but it was my call. We got to spend the weekend and then I bawled like a baby saying goodbye AGAIN. He just called today and is on his way to VA. I will be mailing him his cell and laptop soon. Wwhheeww over one hurdle. long one sorry girls

Thank you everyone your words are so inspiring and reassuring. You know its funny just last year for Christmas I asked him what I could get him and the only thing he could think of was a laptop (his reasoning being classes at the community college) ya right! I got the web cam just because he didnt ask for it. Im so glad I did. Who knew he would pop out of no where and say mom Im going into the Navy. I want to say Im getting nervous (why I dont know) but that would be lying im sooo nervous and super excited for PIR in 3 days.

Hello! My son has his PIR on 11/20. He will be going to A school in Pensacola (per his preliminary orders within a few days - which could change). He will not be home for Thanksgiving, but we hope he can come home when A School stands down for Christmas. If he does not get leave for Christmas, we will make sure we fly or drive to see him. Have a great week and Remember our veterans on Wednesday, November 11th. ~kk

dougs mom sorry it took me so long to get back I've been so busy getting ready or should I say getting everyone else in the fam ready for our trip out to GL for PIR. We are from Boston similar city soI've been told to Chicago in some sorts anyway. But I cant wait. He's gonna look like a different kid or I'll have to start saying man huh? He's still my little boy. Sure we all have that in us. Sorry for the emotions I worked late last night and couldnt fight missing him anymore so I broke down. Iwent into his room smelled his cologne and cried when i heard a song he could sing very good when he learns how to play the the expensive guitar I bought him before he left I dont know the the brand but it cost about $300. any one know if he will evenually be able to have an instrument and play? and find a teacher? Not to much to ask huh? at this late hour..ok my brain is fried got to go to beg. sweet dreams all xoxo

Dougs mom yeah I cant wait I'm sure we will have a nice reunion. We were trying to think of a couple of sites to see while he was on liberty. Most likely just a Saturday, we have a car so as long as we abide by the rules and restrictions we should be fine. I seen they have ESPN Zone, the sears tower there must be more. Anyone have any ideas?
