N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello everyone.  I can see we all have had a busy summer.  Cannot believe that Fall is around the corner ... what happened to June, July and August??

Our Sailor is busy in A School and hopes to be done by mid November and then maybe we will be reunited with him for a few days.  He seems very busy so we are happy that we can keep in touch through texting now.

God bless you all and keep you well.  Enjoy the rest of this wonderful weather before the snow flies!

Hi All, Boy, it looks like no ones been on here for awhile. My Sailor is starting Core class in A School tomorrow, and sometime this fall will be going to Mississippi to be with his ship, USS America LHA-6, until it is finished - at which time he will be stationed in San Diego. How are all of you doing? Where are your Sailors at? Are you on Facebook. There's a whole bunch of us on there.

Hope to catch up with you! Debbie

Saratoga,

That's good for you to send him the back-up meals!  Food at the chow hall is already paid for as part of their Navy benefits, but at times those lines can be really long if all the classes get a break at the same time!

You're welcome Darleen!

Thank you CatMom for the explanation of phase and class.  Really helps to know these things :-)

MomLovesRyan, Smaller, healthier meals that my son can microwave in his room, if he is hungry, such as the lower sodium soups with veggies in them.  Also, the microwaveable packs of rice, and some of the Indian lentils, and Korma.  I know the galley food is great.  My son says its very good, but I just wanted him to have some extra things...just in case.

Nice pic, Auntie Mel!

MomLovesRyan is correct.  Phasing and classing up are totally different.  Phases covers when you can wear your civilian clothes and having liberty with a buddy.  The Sailors can reach Phase 2 or 3, but if someone in their barracks or group messes up (underage drinking, missing the time they have to be back from liberty), the entire barracks gets bumped back down to Phase 1 where they have to be in uniform all the time and muster (meet for roll call).  The Sailors are generally cleaning and volunteering for community activities while waiting to class up.

Classing up is when the classes are formed to actually get their instruction for their rating (job).  My Sailor daughter ended up in Bravo, which had classes from 3:00 pm to 1:00 am daily!  She classed up after only 2 weeks, which was fast!  The average time to class up is about 2 months.  Her IT training took 5 months and she is just about ready to graduate on August 6th!!

Saratoga - When you say healthier small meals, what kind of meals are you talking about?

Congrats to Lala! Being a grandmother is the best thing ever!!  Hug that sweet baby for us!
