Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray for our friend, Navymom Shelly that you place your angel arms around her and her sailor/family and touch the doctors and tools that will be used for her surgery. In the name of Jesus, praying for a great outcome and recovery. Amen.

Our fellow Navy Mom Shelly is getting prepaired for brain surgery, please keep her in your prayers to come thru this safely and for help with many other health problems. She had to email her son the news because they are deployed now, very difficult to have to do that, but she had to "just in case". I know she is very nervous, she needs our prayers and support.

Blondie, you are quite welcome! I've learned so much about the sacrifice that all of you make in having your children in the military. The holidays and special occassions must be so unbelievably difficult to deal with. I haven't experienced this yet, because my son is just starting in his Navy life. I feel very blessed that he is only 3 hrs away, but my heart still aches when I can't see him. I think of this as "practice" for when he has to be w/the Navy and do his duty. Some days I feel so weak and don't want him to do this, yet I know this is right for him. You all are helping me learn and understand how I will feel, and I truly want to be here to support you all. I love your tradition of keeping an empty chair open for Christ (or anyone who needs it)! That is just so special! Wish there were more people like you! Love and blessings to all of you wonderful moms (and dads too!)

Carolyn and Doug, thank you for thinking of all us lonely parents during the holidays. we put on a good face and we know what they're doing is great and we Know everyday is a holiday when they call or come home. But it still hurts when morning comes and they're not here. my other children tend Not to come home now too, because it's just to hard to sit and look at that empty spot. They lost an uncle to nam also, so nothing new to my kids but...Thank God they all have important jobs and valunteer to work so their co-workers can spend it with their families. God is good! we always set an extra spot(for christ) but now that empty spot takes on a different meaning, maybe someday we'll get past this and back to christlike. use to be if someone dropped by we rejoiced the seat was taken, if someone had the last couple of years, i think we all would have had to leave the table. I'm rambling sorry, hope you all know how much you all and your prayers to us left behind.
Jean, i am with you girl, it's what all mom's want for their children. you and all the military and their families are always in my prayers.

Lord, as we begin preparations in our lives and homes for the upcoming holiday weekend, Thanksgiving, let us be thankful and not forget to thank the good Lord for all those service men and women today that wont be home with their families to share the meal, and all the service men and women who throughout the years were not home for the holiday as they unselfishly gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country defending freedom.
Lord, bless and comfort all who will be missing their loved ones at their Thanksgiving table this year. Amen.
