If anyone has a MID who is without a Thanksgiving plan in or around the Orlando area, I'd be happy to invite him or her to join us for a big home-cooked dinner with a bunch of family and one of other MID...send me a PM.

For those of you who are not getting to see your kids at Thanksgiving...I feel your pain :( My daughter is too far away to come home for Thanksgiving and I'll only get to see her for a few days at Christmas.

You right on with that NavyMomXXXY. Our son and his family have been able to come here to visit once or twice a year. We try to get to them once a year but with sea tours and his IA it's had to plan around him. We actually see his wife and kids more than we him.

Very true. I must admit it does get easier with time, but that first Christmas without either kid was tough. I know I've talked about it here before, but I dealt with it by creating a new tradition-a party for all those who didn't have family celebrations to attend. Has worked out well, something to plan and do on Christmas.

I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse!!

Just consider this a trial run for your kids' eventual relocation and deployment. We haven't seen our daughter since last year Christmas, and there's no quarantee she'll be home for this Christmas. Hawaii is a long way from Wisconsin, and travel is expensive, leave time precious.

I won't see my daughter until Christmas either. She will stay with friends of the family over Thanksgiving break though and seems excited about that. But I did get to see her at parent's weekend in Oct. 4 months is a long time for her not to be able to come home...but then again, SHE is the one who chose to go to school in CA...very far from IL! Oh well, that will just make it more exciting when she does come home!

Enjoy your time with your kids at Thanksgiving. We don't get to see our daughter until Christmas, but she is going to spend time with some family who have offered to pick her up and take her back to school. But I'm very depressed.

Glad to hear everyone made it home safe from Canada. Thanks for the kind words. We will continue to keep your family in our prayers and will hope for the best!

Me, too. Centhea. She'll be home at noon Friday and won't have to return to Mizzou until the afternoon of the 28th. We're planning on just "chilling'" and letting her decompress from all the pressure she's been under. She's really looking forward to a break from the early morning PT and some home cooking. I apologize to all the Moms who aren't as blessed as we are and who won't be seeing their Mids until Christmas. I'll say a prayer for you as I enjoy my time with Sarah.
