Jackie,
Made a couple trees last night. They are cute. Took me a minute to figure out the folds (duh!!!) but not long. About how tall did yours turn out?
Welcome Vicki, You are not alone. When we found this website I think we all thought the same thing "Wish I had found it sooner!" Anyway, check out some of the discussions above about where to get Navy embellishments. Since your new to scrapbooking you may want to check out some scrapbooking magazine or a local scrapbook store for classes. Most stores offer a Scrapbookers 101 for beginners. Everybody develops their own scrapbook style, you will learn as you go. I know I look back at some of my early pages and think they are absolutely hideous and have thought about redoing them but I probably won't. As you learn your pages will change and evolve, usually with what ever new technique, tool or embellishment you have recently learned about. You can check out pages posted by some of us in the discussion above and I have my son, Kyle's, entire album posted on my page if that helps give you some ideas. Be warned scrapbooking is addictive! and can be expensive if you let it. Happy Scrapping.

Hi All!
I just wanted to let you know that you should stop on over to Molly's Adopt a Sailor Group and have a look at the December project!!!! This is the greatest thing. ...and I'm sure a lot of you already know about it. Well, long story short, she managed to adopt and entire SHIP. Yep, the USS Rodney M Davis...and yep, I think she's a Navy Mom Rock Star! There are about 250 of our precious cargo on board. On top of this, she's made it extremely easy to participate. Between Dec 1- Dec 8, just send a Christmas Card (with a $10.00 International phone card) to the address she has listed in her Group. If you can send the phone card, that's amazing, and just let us know, and we'll tally the count. ....if not, that's ok too. Just send a Holdiay card, to let them know we are thinking about them, and their Navy Moms miss them, and are so thankful for them, and the job they do, and the sacrafices they make.

Thank you all!
Here is to a wonderful day.
Take care.

I am new to this site since my son PIR 11/14/08. I learned about N4M from another mother over this past weekend. I am loving this site & wish I had learned about it sooner. So..anyway, I have decided to start a scrapbook for my son and not sure where to start. I have never done a scrapbook before but I have saved everything so any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated from this proud Navy Mom.

Hey all,
I started a scrapbook after my daughter enlisted. A good friend found a scrapbook at Michael's for me. It is leather and has the Navy seal on the front. I put all my letters from Becca that I got when she was in BC and all her awards and I even saved all the stubs and reciepts from all the hotels we have stayed in. It's not real decorative, but its a start. She thinks I am nuts, but someday when she has children of her own and they ask about her Navy days, she can pull it out and show them.

I buy the snap load things for the scrapbooks at Michaels. The Tree lays flat but is a little 3-d. Your welcome Teresa! When I learned how to do it I thought it was so cute. I just had to share with all of you! Sue send me your email address in a personal message and I will send them to you. I will send you a friend request so that you can PM me. Maybe that will work better for you.
Julie, I have not joined my friend did . It is free to join and then you get to watch some video classes and buy the kits. She did a 10 page speed glass last week.

Hobby Lobby's have some really cool Navy pages and emblems for the scrapbooks. I was glad to hear Michaels has a Navy album. My kids from my Church classes got me a Album just plain Navy with gold on it. I love the suggestion for a pocket for the letters, I was wondering how to do that.

Dear Jackie, thanks for the folded Christmas tree pattern and pictures. They are sooooo cute. I know a lot of folks that are going to get these for Christmas cards this year!! See, I have to work up to scrapbooks. hee hee Maybe after Christmas I will finally get going on one. Thank all of you for your ideas! :)~

If you want to convert to this system, I suggest an additional adhesive to the one they provide. I have found a Wonder Tape layer in addition to the one on the product provides a good hold. You are right that this system will affect the volume of your scrapbook. However, in my experience, thirty page protectors is about max for a scrapbook due to the weight and ungainliness of the book itself. Any more pages, and the posts or plastic can pop or the album itself could rip.

The kit is made by Pioneer and should be available where their scrapbooks are sold. Also, some Pioneer scrapbooks already come with the Snap Load system.
