Have you heard from your daughter or son?  My daughter is in Div 300 and she sounds good, but tired.  Interesting in hearing how your daughter or son is doing.

Here's a great video on BS-21, turn the sound on and have your tissue handy. This is the 12 hr final exercise they must pass to become a sailor.

kelly 59 - I totally understand, and agree! These are just suggestions, we "seasoned moms" are here to offer suggestions, not direct, so please always do what is comfortable for you. FYI - I changed my user id four different times when Brandon was in bc, never could make up my mind!!!

I don't feel comfortable changing my user id until I actually get that darn letter to confirm everything, but using the address would be ok tho?
Comment by SOBE,PIR 6/4/10 IT Mom, Italy on July 17, 2010 at 1:16pm
kelly59 - Yes! That's why I suggested changing user id's to show division number. Easier to find each other. Then request them as a friend, and send the address via the inbox to each other!

I am posting this at my son's request:
It's amazing the mood swings they have, especially those first few weeks. The shock of all the shots they receive is one thing that gets them down, then all the yelling and cussing they endure. Being woken up at 2am to iron their underwear doesn't help either. But believe me, in a few weeks, things start coming together and they really get to learn something more than marching! Then another low will come when they start talking about "slackers" - those who do the least and cause all the IT assigned (IT = Intense Training, which is very hard physical training - not fun!). That's when we need to remind our recruits to help mentor and motivate the others - even if they can't stand that guy. Because in the end, that person standing next to you is responsible for saving your life, and you his - so they may not like everyone in their division, but by the end of boot camp, they will respect him as a shipmate and do anything for that person. It's an awesome cycle to witness and it's hard for them to see the whole cycle until the end, then it's that "ah ha" moment and they get it! BTW - this is exactly what my son told me to pass on to new moms - then have them share this with their recruits!
