Navy For Moms

Hello everyone!

Earlier this week Ning released the Gift Store application on all of its networks, including ours. There is a chance that this application will be removed within the next week. Navy’s JAG Corps is looking into whether or not we can have this functionality on the site due to the costs associated to our members. If the decision is made to remove this application, all current gifts will be removed from the site including those that have already been purchased. Keep this in mind if you decide to purchase any further gifts. I will keep you posted and alert everyone before we proceed with any changes.

Yes, it seems like Ning should have to live by the Navy Guidelines also. Good for the Navy for looking into this matter.

What is the purpose of this "gift shop" ? To send someone something to "decorate" their page with? Are these like those goofy facebook games? I think Donna squared it up real nice above. There is no need for this here.

Hey -
A friend sent me a gift so I sent one back - then realized that I could be charged for this - not clear at all. Please get rid of this!

I personally don't want me page "littered" with gifts. Plus, our Navy families have better things to spend their money on--so, yes, help N4M get rid of that application please!

I like the idea. Just wish they had more navy friendly or patriotic gifts!

I don't think Ning should be able to make money off of us. I'm guessing they make enough from the Navy as it is. If they don't charge us for the "gifts" then fine, let people play if they want to with their friends, but please remove it if it's simply an attempt to make money off the members.

Mama Mary, you are right, but I think if there are rules on this website for US NAVY MOM'S then NING should abide by the rules.

I'm glad it's being removed.
