Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

But I do have a question.. My husband is going to school for Mineman (MN). For 11 weeks. They at 1st said his school was in Texas but then later my husband did some research and found out MN schools were moved to California for A-school. His recruiters could never figure it out either and told him he would find out in BC. But he still is not 100% sure yet.. I guess my question is does anyone know where MN go for A-school? Or are any of your SR going into that job?

(after I posted my question I actually used the little box on the right here for "Navy Speak" and looked it up!!!) There was a young man that left MEPS with him that day that's in that classification. I don't know what division he ended up in. SR said it wasn't 932. Mine's IT...geek-a-riffic. Just like Dad.

Comment by J's Mom ⚓ Ship 02 Div 932 on May 22, 2013 at 10:24pm: Day - I guess I've been lucky. My SR has called 3 times since the "I'm here" call. All have been about 45 min! <3 And we got a couple shorties because he needed something faxed for his job stuff.

kcowdin - What's CTI?

Comment by ellen0502 on May 22, 2013 at 9:59pm: Phone calls are never a given except for the three "usual" ones (and sometimes they don't happen), "I am here", "I am still alive", and "I am a sailor". Some recruits get more than that, other do not, and not getting phone calls does not have to have anything to do with your SR.

You are very lucky when you receive a call. Always look forward to receiving one, anytime, any day..., but NEVER expect one.
