OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

When I got home I had three letters in the mail. I'm beyond happy. My daughter sounds so good. happy for the letters and questionair. She also got to keep the stuff I sent. She asked for pictures of home old and new. I wasn't sure If they could have them, so I will be sending them now. They won there first flag for scholastic.

2boysandamom we heard from our son Sunday and he told us it might be a while before the next phone call. This week is supposed to be"Hell Week" and very busy. We got our second letter last Thursday and he sounded good. He is in SHIP 11 DIV 212. They took their first written Monday a week ago and everyone in the division passed

Last call I got from my recruit (two weeks ago) said they would not get to call until around June 22nd.  He didn't know why.  He is in 211.  Haven't had any letters in a couple of weeks either.    I keep hoping he was mistaken.

any news on DIV 934, haven't head for SR in a week or more.  Missing the phone calls :( they must be keeping them busy.

There are some facebook groups (not PIR groups) that do ask for names and much more info. So be careful and no matter what groups you join please read the OPSEC and PERSEC rules and don't post personal info or any ship or sailor movement anywhere on line. Not even on your personal page.
